Job Description

This Sales Director position involves identifying and closing new business opportunities within assigned industry sectors. Responsibilities include qualifying potential prospects through in-depth discovery calls, creating outreach plans, synthesizing data to align client needs with products, and using SaaS-based tools to create compelling narratives. A strong understanding of marketing data and experience with Salesforce are also essential. This role requires familiarity with complex sales cycles. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and willing to work in a team-oriented environment.
Must have:
  • 5+ years of experience in new business development for market research sales
  • Knowledge of syndicated and custom consumer research.
  • Experience selling subscription services in a SaaS-based environment.
  • Strong communication skills and rapport-building abilities.
Good to have:
  • MBA is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel for sales opportunities and trade shows.

Job Details

 

This position will join a team of highly motivated Sales Directors who oversee identifying, qualifying, and closing new business opportunities within assigned industry sectors to achieve ambitious growth and sales goals in fiscal year ’24 and beyond. This person must be adept at selling annual subscriptions to syndicated market research and analytics tools and be capable of aligning these products to meet the marketing objectives of B2C/B2B organizations of all shapes and sizes. The ideal type of person will be self-motivated and willing to work in a sales organization that values teamwork and prioritizes putting together solutions that most efficiently meet the needs of our clients.

What will I be delivering? 

  • The ability to hold in depth discovery calls and accurately qualify potential prospects
  • The ability to create strategic outreach plans to connect with and acquire new business partners who are not already working with YouGov
  • The ability to quickly synthesize data and align a potential client’s needs with YouGov products/services
  • The ability to use data in a SaaS-based tool to tell a compelling story that aligns to what the prospective client is trying to achieve.
  • A thorough understanding of what information is important to marketers and how marketing decisions can be made leveraging data and analytics
  • A history of working with, selling or procuring data for use in a marketing setting is of great value to this role
  • The ability to draw on previous case studies, anecdotes and personal examples where data has been used to drive decision making in marketing
  • An established history and understanding of using Salesforce to organize daily sales activity, sales pipeline projections and analyze personal sales performance
  • This role will require applicants to have familiarity with complex sales cycles that fuse together first-in-class software solutions, research methodologies and in-depth consumer insights

What do I need to bring with me?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field. MBA is a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in new business development for consumer insights or market research sales
  • Syndicated and custom consumer research knowledge
  • Successful sales career selling subscription services in a SaaS-based environment.
  • Strong communicator and rapport builder, well-versed in active listening and a curiosity to find out the root behind consumer behaviors.
  • Willingness to travel (when permissible), for sales opportunities and industry specific trade shows.

 

For roles based in California, New York, Colorado or Washington State, the base salary hiring range for this position is $83,000 to $130,000. 

Compensation offered will be determined by multiple factors including location, job-related knowledge, skills and experience.

Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation and additional benefits. All US based full time employees are eligible for the following benefits:
