We’re currently seeking a Security Controls Tester to join the security testing team at a top student loan provider. This is an exciting opportunity to support the organization’s internal controls program in a hybrid role based in Indianapolis, IN for a 4-6 month contract.

About the Role:

In this position, you’ll play a key role in maintaining and testing internal security controls, collaborating with other professionals, and ensuring compliance with both internal policies and regulatory standards. You'll work alongside experienced team members to identify control deficiencies, support remediation efforts, and contribute to improving the organization's internal security practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a comprehensive internal controls program to address risks and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with control professionals across the organization to assess, document, and test controls within the Security team.
  • Build strong working relationships with control owners to gather and submit evidence for assessments.
  • Identify control deficiencies, work with the team to develop remediation plans, and track the progress of issue resolution.
  • Provide regular status updates on issue remediation efforts within the Chief Security Officer’s organization.
  • Participate in the review and update of control policies and procedures to ensure they align with industry best practices.
  • Prepare and deliver reports on the status of the internal controls program to management.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in internal controls, audit, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of internal control frameworks and regulations (e.g., COSO, SOX, PCI, etc.).
  • Experience collaborating with other control professionals to assess, document, and test controls.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with both colleagues and management.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment with multiple priorities and competing deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other standard business applications.

Preferred Skills & Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance) practices in a Security environment.
  • Experience with GRC systems (e.g., Archer).
