The Senior Accountant with German will manage all aspects of local controlling and accounting in Germany. Responsibilities include leading the local controllership/accounting function, managing statutory and tax compliance requirements, maintaining local statutory accounts, and ensuring ongoing compliance with local regulations. They will also act as a central point of contact for external and internal auditors, tax and legal authorities or advisors, and ensure compliance with global, regional, or local policies, procedures, and guidelines. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for reporting and submitting VAT, tax, and other local reporting requirements to the various authorities and ongoing compliance with local regulations for the German companies. They will leverage both onshore and offshore resources to ensure adequate performance and reporting on US-GAAP accounting/closing, accruals, BS account reconciliations, financial closing and consolidation, intercompany transactions and reconciliation, and producing monthly closing dashboard, quarterly, and year-end reporting packs. Additionally, they will drive change locally with regard to standardization and simplification initiatives governed by the Global or Regional Center of Excellence core teams or by Finance leadership, maintain internal controls, and ensure an effective control environment through active coordination with the Group Controller and the Global and Regional core teams.
Must have:
Degree in Finance or Accounting
Local (HGB) or international Accounting qualification
Fluency in German and English
Proven years (5-6) of relevant professional experience
Knowledge and experience with local statutory requirements
Experience with ERP systems (SAP)
Strong communication skills
Team player

They will assist with the coordination of activities between Operational Controlling, Revenue Controlling and Business Finance. The chosen candidate will also perform local accounting activities specific to the respective market as well as lead the local core finance processes.
Responsibilities

Maintain local statutory accounts and ensure ongoing compliance to local regulation for the local legal entities
Act as a central point of contact for external and internal auditors and / or tax and legal authorities or advisors
Ensure compliance with all relevant global, regional or local policies, procedures and guidelines
Responsible for the reporting and submission of VAT, tax and other local reporting requirements to the various authorities and ongoing compliance with local regulations for the German companies
Ensure adequate performance and reporting on the following by leveraging both onshore and offshore resources:US-GAAP accounting/closing, accruals, and BS account reconciliations
Financial closing and consolidation

Requirements
Degree in Finance or Accounting or equivalent experience
Local (HGB) or international Accounting qualification (CA, ACCA, ACMA, or other) preferred
Fluency in German and English language is mandatory
Proven years (5-6) of relevant professional experience in accounting in medium to large international companies
Knowledge and experience with local statutory requirements and statutory audits (HGB, statutory financial statements, tax calculations, VAT returns, statistical reporting)
External audit or public accounting experience highly preferred
Knowledge and experience with US-GAAP preferred
Experience with ERP systems (SAP) preferred
IT-PC literate (Google for Work, Microsoft Office)
Strong communication skills, team player, leadership traits
