Netflix seeks a Senior Engineering Manager to lead and grow the Compute Platform team. This role involves driving the vision and strategy for evolving the compute platform, building and mentoring a high-performing team, and forming cross-functional partnerships. Responsibilities include strategic prioritization, managing competing priorities across stakeholders, and driving large initiatives to completion. The ideal candidate will have experience building large-scale distributed systems, a strong understanding of cloud architectures, and a product-driven mindset.

About the Team

Compute is critical to Netflix. From delivering the largest streaming service on the planet to encoding vast amounts of video content, flexible scalable compute capacity is at the core of Netflix’s success. The Compute team concentrates on building infrastructure abstractions to increase the scale, efficiency, and reliability across our compute, offerings from traditional VM based offerings, to containers via Netflix’s platform to serverless functions. Every engineer at Netflix relies on the products and expertise of the compute team to meet the demands of the largest streaming service in the world. 

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced senior leader with a passion for building large scale distributed systems to join us in leading and growing our Compute Platform. You would lead and grow a team of engineering managers and engineers to evolve and implement a cohesive Compute strategy that underpins all Cloud usage at Netflix.

  • Drive the vision and strategy on how to evolve our Compute platform.

  • Build, scale, and mentor a cohesive team of amazing engineers and leaders.

  • Form strong cross-functional partnerships to achieve alignment with many engineering teams, ensuring our solutions meet their needs, while maintaining our focus on scalability, reliability, and efficiency.

  • Balance competing priorities across multiple cross-functional stakeholders and programs.

  • Drive large initiatives to completion in tandem with partner and peer organizations.

What Sets You Apart

  • A self-motivated exceptional people leader with experience building and leading high-performing teams, ideally with remote or hybrid teams.

  • Strong understanding of cloud architectures and distributed systems at scale.

  • Focus on delighting customers with amazing user experiences and customer service.

  • Proactively give and receive feedback with a growth mindset; adept at active listening.

  • Experience working with and operating production compute infrastructure systems at large scale.

  • Perseverance and the ability to balance competing priorities across multiple cross-functional stakeholders and programs.

  • Strong experience with strategic prioritization but able to strike the right balance between short term goals and longer-term vision.

  • Product driven mindset and previous experience of working hand in hand with Product and Program Management.

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $480,000 - $1,200,000

We also offer paid leave of absence programs. Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off.
