Netflix is one of the world's leading entertainment services, with 283 million paid memberships in over 190 countries enjoying TV series, films and games across a wide variety of genres and languages. Members can play, pause and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time.

Netflix’s source code is distributed across tens of thousands of code repositories written in numerous programming languages developed by thousands of engineers, hosted on GitHub Enterprise Server (GHES). Engineers commit thousands of code changes daily, which are built and tested on Netflix's continuous integration (CI) infrastructure, powered by Jenkins. Builds running both locally and in our CI infrastructure will leverage build artifacts published to Artifactory. Our team hosts all of this core development tooling, and much more in Netflix AWS cloud infrastructure. We are looking for engineers to join this team to manage and evolve Netflix’s Development Infrastructure.

Your day-to-day

  • Design and build scalable infrastructure solutions to enable reliable and secure access to source code, build artifacts and continuous integration.

  • Develop software solutions to integrate with existing infrastructure to enhance and extend existing capabilities.

  • Evolve and improve logging, monitoring, tracing, alerting and dashboarding tools to enable improved insight into our infrastructure.

  • Collaborate with various other Platform teams to ensure their systems can integrate with the development infrastructure.

  • Automate the deployment and upgrading of third-party solutions in order to keep them up-to-date seamlessly.

  • Support customers with a variety of source control, build and environment needs.

  • Support cross-organization critical change campaigns across a wide variety of source code repositories.

  • Engage with vendors on license management and support issues and deliver feedback on product improvements to increase Netflix developer productivity.

  • Participate in product reviews and team meetings, providing technical insight. Help scope, estimate, and prioritize between conflicting needs.

  • Evaluate new technologies and approaches to streamline and improve our rapid application development tooling and conventions.

  • Develop and execute disaster recovery planning and preparedness.

  • Work with our security team on long-term security initiatives and promptly respond to security incidents.

  • Regularly learn new systems and tools as the Netflix platform and ecosystem evolve.

  • Participate in our on-call rotation and contribute to incident reviews.

You may enjoy working with us if:

  • You are self-driven and highly motivated to deliver top-tier solutions with minimal guidance. You also recognize when you're wrong, learning from your mistakes and moving past them.

  • You look beyond short-term fixes in favor of long-term solutions, make wise decisions despite ambiguity, and use data to inform your intuition.

  • You enjoy collaborating and pairing with engineers to understand what they want, figure out what they really need, and finally, what we should build.

  • You strive to embrace best practices and are always searching for opportunities to continually improve.

We would love to work with you if:

  • You have experience operating third-party software at scale on a major cloud platform such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.

  • You have experience with programming languages like Java, Python or Golang.

  • You are comfortable scripting solutions using languages like Python or Bash.

  • You have experience operating source control management systems in a cloud environment, like GitHub Enterprise Server (GHES) or Atlassian Bitbucket.

  • You have experience operating an artifact management system like JFrog Artifactory in a cloud environment like AWS.

  • You have experience with monitoring and alerting systems and how to integrate them with existing solutions.

  • You are experienced with relational and non-relational data stores.
