Infoblox seeks a Sr. Software QA Engineer to join their ThreatDefense team. Responsibilities include validating functional system changes before and after production deployments, developing and maintaining test automation frameworks, building cloud infrastructure, participating in testing strategies and reviews, working in an Agile/CI/CD environment, and troubleshooting issues. The role requires expertise in Python, AWS, Kubernetes, and testing methodologies. The successful candidate will contribute to product testing, deployments, and performance tests, and will collaborate with various teams.
Must have:
  • 4+ years Python (Requests, boto3, Pytest, SSH, Kubernetes API)
  • Agile/Scrum experience
  • Restful services, AWS, Docker testing
  • Linux, networking (OSI, DNS, DHCP)

We are looking for a Sr. Software QA Engineer to join our Threat Defense team in Burnaby, reporting to the manager of Software Engineering. In this role, you will work on cutting-edge technology for our DNS product, gain exposure to Kubernetes and Cloud technologies, and be involved in test case automation and test framework enhancement. What you’ll do:

 

  • Validate functional system changes before production deployments
  • Participate in production deployments and validate functional system changes after rollout
  • Develop maintainable test automation frameworks, tools, and automated test suites in response to the growing feature set and customer requirements
  • Work in a fast-paced, continuous integration and continuous delivery-based engineering environment
  • Build Cloud infrastructure and automation frameworks for deploying, managing, and monitoring SaaS applications running on AWS
  • Participate in requirements, design, test strategies, test plans, and test automation reviews
  • Work with the Development team and proactively escalate any critical functionality issues
  • Attend regular scrum and prioritize and plan QA testing
  • Constantly look out for opportunities to modernize the test automation framework to support effective continuous deployment

 

What you’ll bring:

 

  • Minimum 4 years of experience with Python and Requests Packages, boto3, Pytest, SSH protocol packages, and/or Kubernetes API  
  • Experience in Agile/Scrum or full software development life cycle, including requirement analysis, design, development, testing, and defect fixing
  • Experience with testing, including Restful services, AWS, and Docker apps
  • Manual testing experience with curl and Postman
  • Knowledge of Linux environments and general networking concepts
  • Good understanding of networking, including OSI model, DNS, DHCP, etc.
  • Work experience with Jira, GitHub, and Jenkins
  • Knowledge of micro-services architecture and orchestrators such as Kubernetes is a plus
  • Ability to troubleshoot network/system/application issues
  • Practical experience in the development of automation and harness design, such as UI, System, and API
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and an excellent team-player
  • 8+ years related experience with a Bachelor’s degree in CS, CE, or EE is required, or 6+ years with a Masters Degree

 

 

What success looks like:

 

After six months, you will

  • Understand our products
  • Understand usage of Git, AWS, Kubernetes, and Docker as required for our products
  • Set up for product testing
  • Be involved in feature automation

 

After about a year, you will

  • Be involved in product testing, deployments, performance tests, and automation framework changes and libraries
  • Gain knowledge of our product offerings
  • Collaborate with peers and teams across the organization in various integration activities to achieve a tangible outcome
  • Participate in product deployment and rotational on-call responsibilities
