Solutions Engineer

The Solutions Engineer will work closely with the Milestone Sales team in a pre-sales capacity to position solutions involving Milestone’s products and services to prospective customers. This entails technical analysis and consultation to ensure Milestone’s features and the technical design of the solution will adequately solve the customer’s challenges. The Solutions Engineer must be able to articulate and demonstrate technically complex solutions in a manner easily understood by various audiences. 

The Solutions Engineer is responsible for supporting all technical aspects of a project throughout the entire sales process. Product presentations and support provided through conference calls and on-site meetings are important to the function.  Supporting some post-sales aspects of projects related to the more intricate details of the solution configuration may also be required. 

The preferred candidate for this position will be located in the Los Angeles or Orange Country area.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of Milestone’s products
• Develop and maintain a working knowledge of products provided by the Open Platform Community, including software and hardware solutions
• Define product functional requirements based on customer needs and document specific configuration requirements
• Conduct detailed and technical product demonstrations and presentations
• Implement and maintain ownership of a software pilot during the life cycle of an opportunity
• Provide technical solution expertise in meetings and on conference calls in support of the sales team
• Support technical responses to RFPs
• Build report as the trusted SME with our Sales teams and System Integrators with proactive training and education initiatives within the supported territory.
• Support trade shows and exhibitions, assist in equipment setup/teardown, conduct demonstrations, and engage in solutions-oriented discussions.
• Develop strong relationships with Milestone customers.
• Work with Milestone Technical Support during the transition from pre-sales to post-sales implementation.
• Provide technical feedback to the Milestone product group
• Travel approximately 25% of the time
• Other duties as needed

Your Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need customer-facing experience in IT or physical security. You will also need to demonstrate a strong technical foundation, either through education or IT certifications. 

• Bachelor’s degree in technical / engineering discipline or equivalent experience
• IT certifications such as MCSE, VCP or CCNA, or equivalent
• Deep understanding of on-prem and hybrid client-server-storage architecture
• Broad experience with module application services in a Microsoft OS environment
• Knowledge of cloud services (Azure or AWS) 
• Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Exhibit a customer-centric focus
• Possess curiosity and a thirst for knowledge
• Excellent knowledge of Windows operating systems
• Broad understanding of container environments
• Strong knowledge of server, storage, networking, and configuration principles
• Strong knowledge of scaling and load balancing compute and storage resources 
• Experience with configuration and troubleshooting across the ISO layers
• Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment
• Solution selling experience and/or training a plus
• Physical security industry background in VMS and Access Control a plus

The annual on-target earnings (OTE) for this position range from $108,498 to $179,739 with most candidates falling in the $120,034 to $150,030 range. Pay is based on the level, location, complexity, responsibility, and job duties of the specific position and is just one component of Milestone’s total compensation package. Additionally, we offer an attractive benefits package that includes medical/dental benefits, FSA or HSA, 401k with 6% Safe Harbor employer match, paid parental leave, generous PTO (20 days' vacation, 10 days paid sick time, and 12 company holidays), fully paid Short Term disability policy, fully paid Long Term disability policy, and Life Insurance.
