Application Engineer III

We are currently seeking an Application Engineer III – Jira Solution Architect for our client’s team based in Los Angeles, California. This role presents an exciting opportunity to leverage your expertise in Jira Cloud and contribute to cutting-edge work systems within a dynamic, collaborative environment.

As the Application Engineer III, you’ll play a critical role in designing, building, and maintaining work systems on the Jira Cloud platform. You will collaborate with a talented team to help enhance the functionality and efficiency of various Communication, Knowledge, and Work Management Tools. This is a hands-on, high-impact position where you will drive technical solutions, optimize platform capabilities, and improve overall service delivery processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Intake requests for new work systems, gathering detailed stakeholder requirements to ensure alignment with business needs.
• Iterate on work system prototypes, incorporating feedback to refine and enhance functionality.
• Deploy work systems from sandbox to production environments, overseeing all Change Management activities.
• Review and implement modifications to existing work systems based on user requests.
• Design and advocate for reusable, scalable solutions tailored to specific use cases.
• Identify opportunities to reduce technical debt and improve platform performance.
• Contribute to the evolution of internal service delivery processes, ensuring continuous improvement.
• Manage and review work completed by third-party vendors to ensure quality and consistency.
• Configure integrations, resolve access and permissions issues, and ensure security standards are met.
• Author and maintain operational process documentation, technical designs, runbooks, and shared standards.

Required Qualifications:

• 6-8 years of experience working with Jira Cloud.
• 2+ years of experience with Jira Service Management Cloud.
• 4+ years of experience with Groovy scripting (ScriptRunner) for Jira.
• Experience in large-scale Jira Cloud environments.
• Proficiency in Agile methodologies and IT Service Management frameworks.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a remote environment.
• Excellent command of the English language for clear and precise documentation and collaboration.

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience with Jira Product Discovery, Jira Align, Atlassian Access, Atlassian Analytics, Atlassian Intelligence, and Atlassian Assist.
• Familiarity with Portfolio Management, Capacity Management, and Project Management.
• Proficiency in other programming and scripting languages such as Java, JavaScript, or Python.
• ACP-120 Jira Administration for Cloud Certification and ACP-420 Managing Jira Service Projects for Cloud Certification.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
