About the job

Who We Are: Astrocade AI is building a social gaming platform that uses GenAI to empower all gamers to become game creators instantly. Our proprietary Artificial Gaming Intelligence (AGI) technology enables our users to uniquely use their creativity to generate interactive worlds. We’re a well-funded team backed by Silicon Valley legends and led by the brightest minds in AI including Stanford researchers and professors, top AI scientists, and former researchers at Google research.

Job Summary: We are looking for a Senior Multiplayer Engineer to join our Unity team and help elevate our product from prototype to a fully working product. As a Senior Multiplayer Unity engineer you will be responsible for the networking and multiplayer interface that power Astrocade’s gaming experience. Although this role is specifically for Unity - we greatly value full stack engineers

We are building a toolset and platform that allows creators to build their imagination - so you will have the opportunity to work on everything from multiplayer systems, hyper optimized resource loading, and interactions between AI and the game engine. There is great upside to this role in terms of working with the smartest AI talent around, leaders from industry and academia, and the potential to build the next big thing in gaming! We have an incredibly high bar, so only those who can excel in a fast-paced, demanding environment will succeed in this role. If that sounds like something you enjoy, then this role might be a great fit!

  • Design of state-of-the art architecture for gameplay and game systems.
  • Development and integration of testing frameworks.
  • Setting extremely high standards for the rest of the Unity team in terms of development practices and design.
  • Tech lead/management: As the company grows there will be opportunities for distinguished employees to manage their own sub teams. For now the organization is very flat.

Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of software engineering experience, with proven multiplayer experience in a shipped game. Ideally other experience across core systems, gameplay, and UI/UX.
  • 2+ years of Unity engineering experience.
  • Thrives in fast-paced, challenging environments where quality and speed are of the utmost importance.
  • Strong growth mindset, ready to face the challenges of working at a young startup.
  • Proactive personality and willingness to communicate with cross-functional partners to drive End To End features.
  • Experience with resource loading in game engines
  • Multiplayer experience - whether that is directly in Unity or on another project (eg. MMO style games)

If you have the following, we’d love if you call it out:

  • Experience with scripting languages in game engines (JavaScript/Lua)
  • Experience with software testing and unit tests
  • 1+ years of experience with backend technologies. AWS preferred
