You will be working in a fast-paced and creative environment, ensuring smooth functioning of systems for artists and staff. This 3-month internship offers hands-on experience in IT support within a visual effects studio. This includes troubleshooting hardware/software issues, installing and configuring devices, and assisting in the efficient deployment of new workstations.
Must have:
  • Degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Understanding of computer hardware and software.
  • Familiarity with Windows and/or macOS.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
Good to have:
  • Basic coding skills and Linux knowledge.
  • Prior experience with VFX software packages.
  • Understanding of VFX production workflows.

Job Summary:

Embark on an exciting opportunity within our dynamic studio as a Desktop Support Intern! Working closely with our experienced IT professionals, you will be instrumental in the smooth day-to-day operation of our computer systems, software, and peripherals. Your contribution will ensure our talented artists and staff have the reliable technical resources they need to bring incredible visions to life. 

This 3 month internship offers invaluable hands-on experience in delivering essential technical support within a fast-paced and creative environment.

What will you be doing?

A Desktop Support Intern is responsible for providing technical assistance, troubleshooting, installation, configuration and support to computer users, ensuring smooth functioning of hardware/software and maintenance of desktop computers, laptops, and other devices. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot and resolve a range of hardware and software issues, encompassing operating systems (Windows, macOS, and Linux), diverse applications, and essential peripherals (printers, monitors, etc.), under the guidance of senior IT staff.

  • Installation & Configuration: Setting up new devices, supporting the installation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of user accounts, as well as configuring software/applications as well as the creation of new accounts and the secure resetting of passwords etc.

  • Maintenance: Performing routine inspections, updating software and drivers, and backing up and restoring data. 

  • User Support: Providing technical assistance to users via chat, email, in-person or phone. Documenting incidents, support requests, detailed troubleshooting steps, and effective resolutions within our ticketing system.

  • Hardware Inventory: Assist in the setup, configuration, and efficient deployment of new workstations, laptops, and other WFH hardware.

To be considered for this Internship program, you will have a mix of these skills:

  • Currently pursuing or having recently completed a degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer graphics or a closely related field. Or you’ve acquired the necessary skills through self-study/non-traditional courses.

  • Foundational understanding of computer hardware components, software functionalities, and basic networking principles.

  • Familiarity with Windows and/or macOS operating systems is essential. 

  • Basic coding skills and knowledge of the Linux operating system is considered a valuable plus.

  • Prior experience with VFX software packages (e.g., Maya, Houdini, Nuke) and/or an understanding of VFX production workflows and techniques is a plus.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Good communication and customer service skills.

  • Ability to learn new technologies and applications.

  • A genuine passion for the visual effects industry and an understanding of the technical demands of a creative studio.

  • Duration of internship: 3 months (Dates: Monday 14 July - Friday 03 September TBC).

  • This program will be delivered onsite and in person, 5 days per week - start time & finish times TBC - at the Sydney Studio.

  • Relocation is not offered & candidates must reside in NSW from the commencement of the course.

  • All applicants must be Australian Citizens or have PR.
