As a Technical Product Owner at Rush Street Interactive, you will be responsible for identifying and incorporating valuable features and capabilities into the product roadmap. You will work with technical and business stakeholders to define business requirements, product specifications, and acceptance criteria. Responsibilities include backlog grooming and prioritization, managing dependencies across multiple teams, ensuring regulatory compliance, collaborating with the engineering manager, and tracking product success metrics. You will translate technical initiatives into clear business outcomes, analyze user preferences, and stay updated on industry trends. A strong technical background and experience in the gaming industry are essential.

We are looking for a Technical Product Owner to help us build an amazing betting experience for our customers. A Technical Product Owner is in charge of identifying how the our platform and its core capabilities can deliver maximum value while growing in a direction aligned with company strategy, technical architecture, and communicating this vision and insight to the team and the rest of the stakeholders. 

What you’ll do:

  • Work with technical and business stakeholders to identify and incorporate features, capabilities and initiatives of value into the product roadmap
  • Balance and manage dependencies across multiple platform teams and coordinate efforts with Product Delivery teams
  • Translate the value of architectural initiatives, CI/CD improvements and other software engineering initiatives into clear, business focused outcomes
  • Groom and prioritize the backlog
  • Develop detailed business requirements, product specifications and define acceptance criteria
  • Set goals for the sprint together with the Engineering Manager
  • Ensure regulatory, security and compliance requirements are well-understood and factored into the roadmap
  • Ensure the stakeholders are aligned with the product roadmap and vice versa
  • Support the team during sprints
  • Analyze preferences and requests of end users as well as other engineering teams
  • Keep track of industry trends
  • Work closely with the Engineering Manager to keep the team efficient and focused on the vision
  • Define and track product success metrics and non-functional requirements

In order to succeed, you need:

  • Prior experience and expertise meeting multiple regulations and standards that apply to the product (ideally in gaming industry)
  • Experience in product, business or solution analysis
  • Technical background - some understanding of software architecture, CI/CD pipelines and software engineering
  • Solid understanding of Agile methodologies
  • Strong facilitation skills for cross-team backlog refinement, sprint planning and stakeholder meetings
  • Strong analytical mindset
  • Desire to build awesome things
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Ability to see things in terms of value and priority
  • Experience managing or prioritizing technical debt and platform level improvements
