ABOUT THE POSITION

Responsibilities

Responsible in managing, building and developing team, ensuring project’s quality and progress. Solving issues related to work and human resources. Details as below:

1. Team management: includes 2 parts: 

a. With Lead

- Assign task suitably with the ability of each art lead.

- Understand clearly leads’ strengths, weaknesses to utilize their strengths.

- Encourage Art Leads to train their projects’ knowledge and skills.

- Recommend and train potential artist to become an Art Lead (depending on team’s development).

- Participate in meetings with clients. 

- Be a key communicator between managers in team.


b. With Artist 

- Understand artist’s skills and working attitude. 

- Work closely with Lead and Producer in assigning suitable tasks for artist according to their skills and project’s requirement. 

- Connect team managers and artists.

- Create activities and motivate team in working, learning and developing themselves.

 
2. Team development: 

a. Training system 

- Based on current training platform, implement (or remove) training exercise to improve the platform based on job’s requirement.

- Evaluate artists’ ability through training exercise to adjust the timeline accordingly for each artist (increase and decrease exercise based on artist’s learning ability and work efficiency). 

- Work closely with External Training Team to ensure new artists’ quality meets production requirements (have less internal training time). 

- Develop team based on current and future needs.

- Participate in training team in required skills. 

- Research and evaluate market need to prepare human resource needed

b. Self-training

- Always improve to develop your own skills and ability in both art skills and leadership skills. 

- Participate in training courses recommended by managers.  

- Always improve expertise and vision in art perspective. 

- During management process, always try to evaluate situation on a neutral perspective and from the point of view of a leader. 


3. Ensure project’s quality and progress:


a. Progress 

- Collect and analyze daily info from Producer and Lead. 

- Suggest solutions to ensure progress, assign artists suitably for projects.

- Take and directly handle some projects.

- On the other hand, be a backup art to check artwork if needed. 

b. Quality 

Ensure project quality that meets the clients’ requirements and expectation.

- Find solution or workflow that adapts to project’s quality and timeline, in order to reach the best working efficiency. 

- Ensure high quality with least feedback as possible.


4. Solve problem

- Directly involve in solving problems related to project’s progress, quality or human resource. 

- Solve conflicts between manager vs manager, artist vs artist, manager vs artist.

 

5. Report and set up plan

- Report twice a month about team’s current situation or whenever there is any issue to discuss and suggest solutions.

- Suggest ideas, solutions regarding team development.

- Set up plan accordingly and discuss with HoP before taking action.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of leadership experience in the video game industry, managing teams of “creative geniuses” as either a Lead Artist, Senior Artist or Art Team Leader with hands-on technical experience.
  • Must have shipped a minimum of 1-2 AAA games.
  • Mastery of common industry Software like 3D Studio Max or Maya, Photoshop, Zbrush, Substance Painter, Substance Designer.
  • Knowledge of Unreal and Unity is required.
  • Strong artistic aptitudes, ability to draw.
  • Experience creating and optimizing art pipelines.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, communication, interpersonal, presentation, and mentorship skills.
  • Great level of English communication is a must.
