The Role
The Production Finance team at Netflix is responsible for estimating, managing, and providing insights on production costs throughout the entire lifecycle of each project. The team partners with various stakeholders eg / Production Management, Tax, VFX, Music and third-party production companies, ensuring compliance with Netflix's financial standards, UK laws, and government regulations. This role supports the UK slate, coordinating with production partners and also managing our inbound self-managed shows.
Responsibilities:
Budget Management & Financial Reporting:
Analyze and review production budgets and cost reports throughout the project lifecycle.
Communicate with third-party production companies to track financial variances and address discrepancies.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
Align with Netflix Studio stakeholders to manage production processes and implement cost controls.
Serve as a liaison between production partners and internal teams, ensuring smooth financial workflows.
Guidance & Training:
Guide third-party production accounting teams in adapting to Netflix’s reporting requirements.
Support partners in implementing new procedures and adjusting to evolving financial workflows.
Compliance & Local Financial Regulations:
Ensure that all productions comply with UK laws, local production practices, and government regulations.
Maintain knowledge of payroll, tax, banking, and invoicing processes specific to the UK market.
Process Innovation & Improvement:
Identify and suggest improvements in financial workflows to optimize operational efficiency.
Continuously seek innovative solutions to enhance production finance processes.
Requirements:
Experience:
5+ years of finance experience within the film, TV, production industry, or media sector.
Familiarity with production workflows and financial processes, including cost reporting and budgeting.
Communication Skills:
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage both internal teams and external partners effectively.
Proven experience in roles that require a high degree of collaboration and clear communication.
Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills:
Strong aptitude for complex problem-solving and financial analysis.
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Independence & Initiative:
Self-motivated and able to work independently, identifying team needs and proactively filling workflow gaps.
Track record of working in roles focused on accuracy, execution, and achieving results.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in financial applications such as Excel/Google Sheets is essential.
Affinity for technology, with an interest in system development, is an added advantage.
Cultural Fit:
Demonstrates alignment with Netflix’s culture of curiosity, good judgment, and integrity.
Familiarity with Netflix’s core documents, including the Culture Memo, Strategy Bets, and Entertain the World.
Education:
College/University degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
