We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented CMF (Color, Material, Finish) Designer to join our dynamic design team. In this role, you’ll act as a key collaborator across design, engineering, quality, and supplier teams to ensure the seamless execution of CMF strategies. Your expertise will help maintain alignment with design intent while upholding the highest quality standards. Must have:
  • Collaborate with internal teams and suppliers for early-stage CMF concepts and design alignment.
  • Manage and track CMF mastering samples, maintain inventory logs, and develop efficient distribution processes.
  • Identify process gaps, flag issues early, and implement actionable solutions to maintain project momentum.
  • Serve as a liaison between design, engineering, and leadership for clear communication and shared expectations.
  • Evaluate workflows and contribute to best practices for efficiency, consistency, and high-quality outcomes.
  • Provide timely updates on project status to all stakeholders, ensuring alignment and accountability.
  • Bachelor’s degree in CMF Design, Industrial Design, Engineering, Product Development, or related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in CMF design, program coordination, or project management.
  • Strong understanding of materials, finishes, and manufacturing processes relevant to CMF design.
  • High color acuity, with the ability to pass the Munsell Hue Color Test.
  • Hands-on experience with material evaluation, supplier engagement, and mastering processes.
  • Proven ability to identify roadblocks, propose solutions, and take initiative to resolve issues independently.
  • Solid understanding of color matching, mastering timelines, and quality standards in CMF production.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, managing multiple stakeholders and priorities.
  • Project management experience in fast-paced, cross-disciplinary environments.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, particularly around texture, color, material quality, and visual consistency.
  • Passion for innovation and strong interest in exploring new materials, technologies, and industry trends.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with internal teams and suppliers to support early-stage CMF concepts and ensure alignment with overall design direction.
  • Manage and track CMF mastering samples, maintain inventory logs, and develop efficient internal sample distribution processes.
  • Identify process gaps, flag issues early, and implement actionable solutions to maintain project momentum.
  • Serve as a liaison between design, engineering, and leadership teams to ensure clear communication and shared expectations.
  • Evaluate workflows and contribute to the development of best practices that drive efficiency, consistency, and high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications;

  • Bachelor’s degree in CMF Design, Industrial Design, Engineering, Product Development, or a related field—or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in CMF design, program coordination, or project management, preferably in the automotive or hardware sector.
  • Strong understanding of materials, finishes, and manufacturing processes relevant to CMF design.
  • High color acuity, with the ability to pass the Munsell Hue Color Test.

Salary Range: $110,000-$125,000

The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.
