Job Description

Next Level Games seeks a Gameplay Engineer to collaborate with the Game Director, Designers, and Animators in implementing core gameplay mechanics and engine features. Responsibilities include prototyping and completing features, fine-tuning gameplay, and working with character movement, interactions, controls, AI, and physics. The ideal candidate possesses 3+ years of professional game development experience with C++, strong linear algebra skills, and an understanding of animation and AI systems. They should demonstrate self-drive, strong problem-solving abilities, and an eye for detail.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING: 
We are looking for a Gameplay Engineer to join our team at Next Level Games. The Gameplay Engineer will work closely with the Game Director, Designers, Gameplay Engineering Team and Gameplay Animators to implement core gameplay mechanics and engine features. 

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR: 

  • 3+ years professional video game development experience 
  • Proficiency with C++ 
  • Experience with character movement, interactions, and controls 
  • Strong linear algebra skills 
  • Understanding of skeletal animation, real-time physics, and game AI systems 
  • Eagerness to work with designers while taking features from prototyping through to completion 
  • Eye for detail with an interest in fine tuning the gameplay experience 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Self-drive and organization 
  • Post-secondary degree in Computer Science or similar, or equivalent experience

Please note this is a hybrid position, requiring at least three days per week at our Vancouver studio. 

The hiring range for this position is $82,500 - $105,000 CAD annually and is subject to change. The final base salary compensation will be based on factors such as skills, education, and experience.
