About the Role & Team

We are looking for Labor Relations Manager to join Disney Entertainment Television! This role will provide critical support to the Labor Relations team in New York City. The candidate must be highly organized, adept at managing time and competing priorities frequently with tight deadlines. The individual must be self-motivated, self-directed, have strong interpersonal skills, and thrive in a cooperative, team environment.

What You Will Do

  • Strategically manage Taft Hartley Fund Benefits Plan requests from the commencement of an audit to the resolution.
    • Work closely with colleagues in Payroll, Business Affairs, Human Resources, and Benefits to determine and locate missing information that is required to analyze audit claims and strategize responses.
    • Ability to interpret and calculate complex fringe contribution contractual provisions in domestic union codified, sideletters and agreements
    • Review audit evidence provided to support the contractual reporting to guilds / funds in an efficient and effective manner.
    • Investigate, research, and assist in resolving potential issues affecting the contractual reporting obligation during the negotiation stage of an audit engagement.
    • Assist in drafting correspondence to Fund auditors, audit committee employees and Fund counsel
    • Maintaining a constructive and collaborative relationship with union representatives, Fund Auditors and Fund audit employees.
    • Proactively engage payroll department and human resources business units to review fringe contribution and audit procedures and make recommendations to improve process efficiencies
  • Support the lead attorney in collective bargaining negotiations by
    • Preparing proposal impact analyses
    • Assisting in responding to union information requests,
    • Maintaining logs of union and Company proposals and counter proposals,
    • Taking negotiation session notes,
    • Coordinating with Company business units with regards to proposals, and
    • Coordinating negotiations logistics
  • Assist in completing monthly, bi-annual, and annual required reporting to unions pursuant to collective bargaining agreements.
  • Support the team in contract administration after negotiations by
    • Liaising with Company payroll, benefits and human resources business units to implement new contract terms.
    • Assisting in responding to payroll and union inquiries regarding administration of contract terms
  • Support lead attorney in union grievance meetings and Arbitration Hearings by
    • Preparing exhibits
    • Taking notes during witness interviews
  • General scheduling of meetings and calls with managers and union representatives regarding collective bargaining administration

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum 4 years of related experience within Finance, accounting, labor relations, business affairs, entertainment industry experience a plus.
  • Strong understanding of audit accounting and operating processes of assigned client organizations
  • Ability to analyze and resolve issues from multiple stakeholders
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently and adapt quickly in a fast paced environment
  • Able to work in a flexible team environment and handle multiple assignments simultaneously
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Professional demeanor, focused, articulate and well organized with strong project management skills
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills and attention to detail, proven by the ability to exercise appropriate judgment in executing tasks without supervision.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize deadlines/deliverables;
  • Onsite based in New York

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience, finance or accounting experience a plus

The hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $130,800.00 to $175,400.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
