What We Need:
2K is looking for a Marketing Manager in Japan for our flagship PC & Console Titles. The ideal candidate has a strategic approach and a proven ability to implement marketing campaigns. A passion for video games, and a strong interest in the Japan market is necessary to be successful in this role. We are also open to candidates at the Associate Manager to Senior Manager level.
You will be responsible for inputting into the long term growth strategy of the titles you are responsible for and creating plans to engage and delight our players.
Reporting to the Sr. Marketing Manager, Japan Lead, you will be in charge of meeting sales and business objectives through rolling out effective GTM and consumer marketing initiatives which include driving external communications and press relations with specialized and general press, effective management of the marketing, advertising and promotional activities by working within the allocated marketing budget, and a clear local strategy to maximize returns on the marketing budget and to also strive for process and market excellence including holding post-mortem analysis of marketing campaigns so as to continuously improve the level of marketing excellence in Japan and to help regional marketing lobby for necessary resources and assets to meet this goal.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a comprehensive marketing and communications strategies, and tactics for 2K’s products
- Conceptualize, plan, implement, and evaluate integrated marketing communications campaigns from announcement - through to product launch and lifecycle management through assessment of consumer preference, including market analysis, set positioning, creative strategy, advertising, media planning, pricing, digital marketing and promotion.
- Manage relationships with media agencies in developing, driving and evaluating advertising campaigns with a focus but not limit to digital and social placement.
- Liaison with media owners and journalists, to build a strong relationship with a set goal of achieving better PR coverage, reviews and media support. Find opportunities for media coverage in core, general consumer and business markets. Cultivate relationships with key members of the trade and consumer media to garner press placements
- Evaluate suitability to shortlist market agencies then brief, direct and manage the agency to ensure top notch planning and execution of marketing activities
- Work closely with the Sales team to prepare presentations and materials for our Japanese Partners sales conferences and retail go-to-market activities. To also track and monitor revenue numbers and measure impact of marketing effort.
- Identify and manage partnership opportunities with external partners which will drive awareness and or purchase of our titles
- Analysis of available customer/market research, current market conditions and competitor information
- Manage the marketing budget and deliver marketing activity within the agreed budget
Who We Think Will Be A Great Fit:
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in the marketing industry in FMCG, entertainment marketing or consumer lifestyle brands. Game industry experience is a strong bonus. Open to Associate Manager to Senior Manager level.
- Analytical, with extensive experience in developing, maintaining and delivering on marketing executions to meet company objectives.
- Careful, detailed with a proven track record to execute in potentially diverse situations
- Digital marketing experience including some social media and a broad grounding in offline marketing.
- Ability to build strong collaborative relationships with a diverse range of partners in Japan.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and conceptual thinking skills
- Strong understanding of local customer and local market dynamics and requirements.
- A strong interest for entertainment and gaming appreciate
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English & Japanese

- Passion for NBA 2K and our other PC/Console titles and enthusiastic about growing 2K’s marketing presence in Japan
- Affinity and knowledge to Japanese subcultures and how to market to them ie: Anime, Manga, Pixiv, Cosplay, NicoNico
