Mattel Canada seeks a Marketing Manager (18-24 month contract) to lead the Dolls business unit, overseeing Barbie, Monster High, Polly Pocket, and licensed properties. This role requires driving brand strategy, managing day-to-day marketing activities, analyzing performance, and leading key campaigns and partnerships. The Manager will coach a team of two, manage budgets, and collaborate across various departments (Sales, Global Brand Marketing, etc.). Success requires strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills, along with experience in consumer marketing and retail environments.

The Team:

Mattel’s Canada Commercial Marketing team localizes the global brand strategy for our market.  The team is responsible for overseeing the Brand P&L, marketing campaigns, customer strategy, channel segmentation and line selection along with pricing for Canada. The Marketing Manager for the Dolls business will be responsible for overseeing the iconic Barbie brand along with other Mattel IPs like Monster High, Polly Pocket and licensed properties. The individual will provide leadership around marketing, business operations and customer management activities for the segment and product line to achieve financial growth and profit targets. Your knowledge of the consumer, our business and utilization of successful marketing levers will drive our legendary brands forward. 

Job Description

The Opportunity: 

This Manager Marketing role is a Mat leave cover and will oversee all segments of iconic Mattel Dolls portfolio, reporting to the Head of Marketing. The role will be a Business Unit lead from Marketing and be able to lead all decision making for the portfolio. We are constantly adapting our marketing strategies according to evolved consumer media consumption habits and so this position provides a strong and dynamic opportunity for someone who is passionate about Marketing.  

This role also requires a strong leader in commercialization who will be managing the day-to-day operations of the brand, turning insights into recommendations, working in collaboration with cross-functional teams across the business. Excellent analytical, communication and strong presentation skills are required not only for these internal meetings but also for external presentations to retail buyers. You will also lead key campaigns, licensor and external partnerships.

This role has 2 direct reports: an Associate Marketing Manager, Portfolio Dolls & Marketing Analyst, Barbie.

What Your Impact Will Be: 

  • Build and drive brand strategy across the portfolio for Canada market
  • Coach, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of two direct reports, fostering professional growth and building a culture of collaboration and excellence
  • Lead day-to-day marketing activities, synthesize insights to drive action and analyze performance or brand/products
  • Monitor forecasting, tracking, and performance roll-ups to impact marketing strategy
  • Drive promotional plan and execution by brand and across customers
  • Develop your brands by activating key marketing programs in the Canada market
  • Drive marketing execution by leading a cross-functional team inclusive of Sales, Global Brand Marketing, Customer Marketing, Integrated Media Communications, etc. 
  • Manage annual budgets for media and non-media activities

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For: 

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience (6 with MBA) in consumer or brand marketing
  • Advanced understanding of standard marketing techniques and retail business environment
  • Demonstrated leadership, strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
  • Excellent written/verbal, attention to details, time management, project management, and quantitative/analytical skills required
  • Ability to take conclusions from data and communicate and present actionable insights to leadership, sales team, external partners and customers
  • People management experience preferred
  • Bachelors degree in marketing, business or related field; MBA preferred
