The Planning Standards and Governance Lead will develop, maintain, and execute document control processes and policies for all documents within Microsoft's Global Project Controls (GPC) team. Responsibilities include monitoring and reviewing document control systems, maintaining SharePoint sites, developing compliance processes, optimizing business processes, managing auditing processes, overseeing employee onboarding, and collaborating with stakeholders. The role requires strong process management, document control, and auditing experience, along with excellent technical writing and communication skills. This is a hybrid or remote role with relocation support offered for select locations.

Overview

Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO+I) is the team behind the cloud.  Within CO+I, the Global Project Controls (GPC) team is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft’s cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. We are looking for a passionate, high-energy individual to help build the cloud datacenters that power the world’s largest online services. 

 

We are seeking an experienced Planning Standards and Governance Lead to join the Integrated Planning team within CO+I Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC). The successful candidate will be responsible for group process & policy management and maintenance, group auditing processes while also keeping these processes in line with EPC Center of Excellence standards document control systems, maintaining and managing the document control system and process of the team, and finally on/off boarding processes and processing.

 

The ideal candidate should have a high level of attention to detail, technical writing skills, and the ability to meet deadlines. The candidate should be highly collaborative, self-motivated, and have experience using and managing Microsoft SharePoint sites.

 

This role is located either in one or all hub locations: Atlanta, GA, Phoenix, AZ, Redmond, WA, San Antonio, TX, or Washington, DC.  Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates must ​relocate or reside within 50 miles of the hub office location. This role is eligible for hybrid or remote work, up to 100%.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in process management, process execution, process optimization, document control, group auditing/governance processes and administration, or related experience 
    • OR equivalent experience
  • 2+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects

Other Requirements

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in process management, process execution, process optimization, document control, group auditing/governance processes and administration, or related experience 
    • OR equivalent experience
  • 6+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • Ability to build positive relationships and develop support from a wide variety stakeholder including EPC commercial partners.
  • Ability to drive constant innovation, improve cycles and lean principles while bringing constructive tension and challenge mindset.
  • Advanced Word, Visio, and Power Point skills.
  • Effective technical writing skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines with excellent quality deliverables.
  • Experience using and managing Microsoft SharePoint sites.
  • Knowledge of SQL Server, Data Visualization techniques and BI development tools.

Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.

Responsibilities

 

  • Develop, maintain, and execute document control processes & policies for all documents 
  • Monitor and review document control systems, making necessary changes, improvements, and recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain the Integrated Planning SharePoint site, securities, and access to said site.
  • Develop and implement processes and policies to ensure compliance with internal and external regulations.
  • Maintains and optimizes Integrated Planning business processes and polices; including establishing and tracking metrics to ensure best practices and adherence and facilitates process-level change management efforts.
  • Executes end-to-end governance for simple processes/parts of a process. Documents flow, controls, underlying systems, and requirements needed.
  • Manage group auditing processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Oversee the onboarding process for new employees, ensuring that all necessary documents are completed and filed correctly, including security access to tools and documents.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments and stakeholders.
  • Meet deadlines and complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Plan, manage, and execute multiple, time-sensitive projects with competing priorities.
