Summary

SEGA seeks a talented Producer to collaborate with Japanese studios and external partners. The Producer will also gather feedback, attend trade shows, and work cross-functionally with various teams.
Must have:
  • 4+ years production experience in software entertainment
  • Shipped at least one title (consoles, PC)

  • Work under rapid development cycles
  • Experience with project management software (Jira, etc.)
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving skills

Job Summary:

At SEGA, we believe in having the best of both worlds! We are seeking a talented Producer who is initiative-taking, self-sufficient and capable of collaborating closely with our Japanese studios and external development partners. The ideal candidate must be adept at managing workflows, schedules, and budgets, providing visibility, and communicating with all involved stakeholders. They will work cross-functionally with the consumer insights team, localization, external vendors, QA, and marketing to grow SEGA’s Western audience. The person must be adept at tracking schedules and budgets, providing visibility and communicating with all involved parties. The Producer will be a role model and mentor to junior producers, anticipating challenges, mitigating risks, and working proactively to overcome those challenges. SEGA prides itself on its high-quality games, and this individual will play a crucial role in upholding that legacy.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drive resource and project plans, review production proposals, and publishing processes; work cross-functionally with Business Planning, Marketing, Research, Communications, QA, and Localization teams.
  • Manage and support game development workflows and workstreams to produce high-quality content within business parameters, including schedule, quality, and budget.
  • Determine scope, complexity and resources needed to execute on initiatives; secure budget and resources to execute on the projects.
  • Negotiate internally and externally on behalf of project’s schedule, budget, and resourcing needs.
  • Provide proactive guidance and engage with publishing organization to support publishing initiatives and workstreams.
  • Negotiation with external partners and vendors as needed.
  • Create, direct, and implement departmental and corporate initiatives and vision.
  • Function as a hub and resource to guide and resolve issues that block product development progress.
  • Provide, gather, and synthesize product evaluation feedback as required.
  • Attend trade shows to demonstrate products and promote the game through interviews.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Working in-office is an essential function of this position.  This requirement of face-to-face interaction is in place to ensure effective supervision, collaboration, and teamwork.  In-office attendance is required for the following reasons:
    • For effective supervision of employees and our work product, which includes ensuring all employees have necessary oversight of their work and access to supervisory assistance, which includes meetings to review work product, deadlines, and status.
    • To foster communication and collaboration among team members, which includes the following: allowing for spontaneous brainstorming sessions and exchanges of ideas, quick access to team members to enable collaborative problem-solving, and stronger cohesion among co-workers and within teams.
    • To enhance the sharing of information necessary to effective job performance and product creation. 
    • To enhance understanding of our stakeholders’ work and business needs, facilitate a more seamless and organic workflow, and ultimately increase efficiency and successful outcomes.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 4+ years of production experience in the software entertainment industry as a Producer or equivalent.
  • Must have shipped at least one title consoles, PC.
  • Proven ability to manage game production projects, teams, and processes.
  • Proven ability to work under rapid development cycles.
  • Practical experience with modern development methodologies.
  • Product Development experience including game design, narrative, art design, voice over management, user testing, etc.,
  • Ability to diagnose development and production workflow inefficiencies and propose and execute solutions.
  • Experience with project management software (Jira, Hansoft, DevTrack, etc.).
  • Proficiency with Atlassian suite (Confluence, Jira) and Microsoft office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
  • Excellent organizational, communication, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to foresee and communicate risks and obstacles to all stakeholders.
  • Knowledgeable of current trends in the video game industry.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience collaborating with global teams.
  • Experience on internal game development teams
  • Production experience at a video game publisher.
  • Project Management training/certifications.
  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field or
  • relevant work experience.
  • Japanese language skills
