The individual will report to the Manager, Revenue Accounting, and will be based out of either our Los Angeles, CA, or Los Gatos, CA office. In this role, you will be part of the team responsible for the financial integrity of the company's ancillary revenues, assets (i.e. accounts receivables), and liabilities (i.e. deferred revenue). You will review incoming royalty reports received from licensees and assess for reasonableness, review and prepare documentation of consumer product agreements, which includes interpreting contractual terms and understanding the application of our accounting policies, own other ancillary workflows (e.g. music royalties, e-commerce, live experiences), perform monthly close tasks (such as revenue entries and reconciliations), drive operational process improvements and system integrations, and work closely with various teams throughout the company including Legal, Finance, Licensing, Tax, and Engineering.
Must have:
  • 4+ years accounting experience
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Project management experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Self-motivated and problem-solving abilities
Good to have:
  • CPA license

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL

  • Be part of the team responsible for the financial integrity of the company's ancillary revenues, assets (i.e. accounts receivables), and liabilities (i.e. deferred revenue).

  • Review incoming royalty reports received from licensees and assess for reasonableness.

  • Review and prepare documentation of consumer product agreements, which includes interpreting contractual terms and understanding the application of our accounting policies.

  • Own other ancillary workflows (e.g. music royalties, e-commerce, live experiences). 

  • Perform monthly close tasks (such as revenue entries and reconciliations).

  • Drive operational process improvements and system integrations. 

  • Work closely with various teams throughout the company including Legal, Finance, Licensing, Tax, and Engineering.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 4 years of accounting experience - public accounting or in-house/corporate accounting are both great; CPA license is preferred

  • Advanced Excel experience with the ability to navigate large data sets

  • Proven project management experience and demonstrated ability to drive process improvements

BONUS EXPERIENCE - NOT REQUIRED BUT ARE A PLUS!

  • Industry experience in consumer products or royalty accounting 

  • Experience with Workday Financials 

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $50,000 - $240,000.

Netflix provides comprehensive benefits including Health Plans, Mental Health support, a 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer match, Stock Option Program, Disability Programs, Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts, Family-forming benefits, and Life and Serious Injury Benefits. We also offer paid leave of absence programs.  Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off.
