The Security Engineer, Silicon role at Google focuses on creating and maintaining a safe operating environment. Responsibilities include performing security reviews for silicon designs (RTL), developing threat models and risk assessments, designing security controls, and providing subject matter expertise to engineering teams. The role involves working directly with network equipment, monitoring systems for attacks, and collaborating with software engineers to fix security flaws. The ideal candidate possesses experience in silicon life-cycle, hardware design, security engineering, computer and network security, security protocols, and Verilog/SystemVerilog. Experience in software development, hardware/firmware/systems programming, hardware system architecture, reverse engineering, and risk assessment is preferred.
Must have:

- 2+ years silicon lifecycle or hardware design experience
- 2+ years security engineering experience
- 2+ years Verilog/SystemVerilog experience

Job Details
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience in silicon life-cycle or hardware design life-cycle.
- 2 years of experience with security engineering, computer and network security, and security protocols.
- 2 years of experience in Verilog/SystemVerilog.
Preferred qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in software development and security engineering.
- Experience with Hardware, Firmware, Systems Programming.
- Experience with Hardware System Architecture.

Security Engineers work directly with network equipment and actively monitor our systems for attacks and intrusions. You also work with software engineers to proactively identify and fix security flaws and vulnerabilities.You use your industry experience to own and drive the resolution of complex security incidents, policy questions and technical security issues. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Perform security reviews for silicon designs (RTL). Scope and deliver comprehensive security reviews of hardware/firmware components.
- Develop and refine threat models, risk assessments, and define security requirements for hardware products entering Google’s data centers.
- Design and engineer the necessary security controls for identified threats and risks.
- Provide subject matter expertise to Platforms Infrastructure Engineering (PIE) teams designing and developing the next generation data center hardware.
