Job Overview

As a Character Artist at Xogar Games, you will be responsible for creating high-quality character models for our projects. You will work closely with the Developer, Animators, and other artists to ensure the characters are visually stunning and aligned with the creative vision of the project. Your work will be crucial in driving the visual appeal and overall player experience.

Responsibilities

• Producing high-quality, anatomically feasible, photo-real or stylized CG character models in line with brief and/or reference material.
• Interpret abstract ideas or concept art into the creation of compelling photo-real or stylized character
• Ensuring consistency of UV mapping and polygonal subdivisions
• Create highly detailed and visually appealing character models, including textures, materials, and shaders.
• Collaborate with concept artists to develop character designs from initial sketches to final models.
• Work with animators to ensure character models are rigged and ready for animation.
• Optimize character models for performance without compromising quality.
• Stay updated with industry trends and techniques to continuously improve and innovate.
• Participate in critiques and provide constructive feedback to team members.
• Ensure all character assets meet technical requirements and are compatible with the game engine or software being used.
• Researching reference materials for aesthetics and genre of game, film or animation.
  
  

Skills Required

• Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Computer Graphics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 4- years experience with character animation in Unreal Engine 5.
• Proven experience as a Character Artist in the gaming or film industry.
• Strong portfolio showcasing character modeling, texturing, and shading skills.
• Proficiency in industry-standard software such as Maya, ZBrush, Blender, Substance Painter, and Photoshop.
• Knowledge of cloth simulation, hair/fur modeling, and other advanced character techniques.
• Understanding of anatomy, form, and proportion as it applies to character modeling.
• Experience with rigging and preparing character models for animation.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to take constructive feedback and iterate on designs.
• Attention to detail and a passion for creating compelling characters.
• Experience with PBR (Physically Based Rendering) workflows.
