As a Senior Level Designer/Art Implementation specialist at AGBO, you'll bring worlds to life through gameplay and visual storytelling. This hybrid role blends gameplay level design with collaboration across departments, supporting shared art asset pipelines. Responsibilities include designing and building greybox levels, implementing environment art assets, working with other teams on gameplay scenarios and performance, establishing shared environment assets, and contributing to worldbuilding. The ideal candidate has 5+ years' experience in level design and/or environment art, expertise in Unreal Engine 5, a strong eye for visual clarity, and excellent collaboration skills. The role involves working on action, narrative, or exploration-driven titles.

Position Summary:
As Senior Level Designer / Art Implementation specialist you will bring worlds to life – both in terms of gameplay and visual storytelling. This is a hybrid role that blends gameplay-focused level design with the potential to collaborate across departments, supporting unified art asset shared pipelines. You’ll build test maps that serve as gameplay sandboxes, work closely with designers to support gameplay systems, and help create the vision for our player facing gameplay space. This is a high-impact role on an ambitious team creating something special and exciting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and build greybox levels and test maps to explore gameplay mechanics, pacing, and player experience.
  • Implement environment art assets into gameplay maps, focusing on composition, readability, and visual storytelling.
  • Work closely with combat, systems, and programming teams to support gameplay scenarios, performance budgets, and player flow.
  • Work cross-functionally within the company to establish and implement shared environment assets for use across environments.
  • Contribute to worldbuilding, space planning, and modular design systems.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience in level design and/or environment art roles, preferably with hybrid experience, bonus if you helped grow and maintain a live service game.
  • Strong worldbuilding instincts and a solid grasp of gameplay space design, player flow, and environmental storytelling.
  • Expertise in Unreal Engine 5, with experience in both greybox design and art implementation workflows.
  • A strong eye for layout, lighting, and visual clarity in 3D environments.
  • Comfortable collaborating across disciplines – design, art, tech – and leading by example.
  • Experience working on action, narrative, or exploration-driven titles.
  • Familiarity with modular asset workflows and optimization techniques.
  • Leadership or mentorship experience in an art or design role.
  • Bonus: Previous experience at a startup or on early-phase projects.
  • Bonus: An interest in film, cross-medium storytelling and worldbuilding, or experimental gameplay.


The typical base salary for this position ranges from $140,000-$170,000 annually. Actual offers will be determined based on experience. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires in CA, NY, NC, and UT. Actual offers will be determined using local market data for the identified candidate’s geographic area and may vary from the stated range.
