Job Description

As a Full Stack Engineer at Fandom, you'll contribute to the development and improvement of the world's largest fan platform, handling over 2.5 billion page views and 300 million users monthly. You'll work on a goal-oriented team, designing and implementing features for diverse user groups (casual users, content creators, moderators, administrators). Responsibilities include building and scaling web applications, improving app performance, identifying optimal processes for business challenges, knowledge sharing, and mentoring junior engineers. The ideal candidate has strong front-end skills (JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML/CSS/Sass) and a good grasp of PHP, with a passion for solving large-scale business problems and delivering high-quality, maintainable software. Experience with design systems and a keen eye for performance and scalability are highly valued. A passion for pop culture is a plus.

As a Full Stack Engineer, you will help us build the web experience on the world’s biggest platform for fans, with over 2.5 billion page views and 300 million users a month!

Our Community Platform underlies some of the biggest fan knowledge bases in the world, including communities built around pop culture phenomena like Star Wars, Minecraft, Marvel Comics, and thousands of others.

As a developer, you'll work on one of our goal-oriented and autonomous teams focused on delivering features to and improving the experience of our various users (casual users, content creators, moderators, administrators).

We are looking for people who are driven by solving business problems on a very big scale. You are the perfect match for us if you’re specialized in front-end but you also enjoy spending some time on the back-end side of the HTTP protocol - if you’re good at solving problems and you enjoy the pop culture, there is a big chance you’ll find yourself at home at Fandom!

You Will...

  • Help build one of the biggest community platforms on the Internet
  • Take part in (and eventually lead) an end-to-end app and feature design process

  • Provide mentorship to the less experienced engineers on your team

You Have…

  • Experience in web development (focused on Front-End)
  • Proficiency in JavaScript / TypeScript
  • Good understanding of web presentation layout (HTML / CSS / Sass)
  • Good grasp of PHP
  • Good grasp of Design systems creations/maintenance 
  • Courage for learning new technologies and stepping out of your comfort zone
  • A drive to solve business problems
  • A strong eye for performance and scalability
  • An ability to resolve technical and operational issues
  • Passion for delivering well-structured, tested, maintainable and useful software
  • Ability to communicate in English

Bonus Points...

  • Previous experience and/or passion for contributing to open-source projects
  • Passion for pop culture (Movies, Games, TV Shows, Anime, etc.)
  • Experience working with highly-scaled web apps
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
