Job Description
As a Software Engineer II, Platform Storage, you'll design, implement, and maintain software solutions for Google's storage systems. Responsibilities include developing system software for optimal performance, reliability, and security; creating automation tools for diagnostics and performance evaluation; developing solutions for data collection and analysis; and collaborating with internal/external partners on engineering programs. You'll work within Google's MSCA organization, focusing on the infrastructure supporting Google services and Google Cloud.
Good To Have:
- Master's degree in CS or related field
- Experience in high-performance computing
- Experience with enterprise server/storage systems
- Experience with Python/Go and scripting languages
Must Have:
- Bachelor's degree in CS or related field
- 1 year software development experience (C, C++)
- 1 year data structures/algorithms experience
- 1 year system software development experience
- Design and implement storage system software
- Create automation tools for diagnostics
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 1 year of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., C, C++).
- 1 year of experience with data structures or algorithms.
- 1 year of experience in system software development (e.g., firmware, BIOS, BSP, Linux kernel, BMC, device drivers, and system libraries).
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in high-performance computing, reliability engineering, software-defined systems, hardware acceleration, and disaggregated computing.
- Experience in enterprise server or storage systems, including BIOS, BMC, TCG, SSD, and SATA/SAS.
- Experience in secure fleet management of servers and components.
- Experience in Python/Go and scripting languages (e.g., Shell).

Responsibilities
- Design and implement the system software for storage systems to support the performance, reliability, security, and capacity.
- Create and implement tools for automating diagnostics, performance evaluation, and reliability assurance for storage components and systems.
- Develop and implement solutions for collecting and analyzing metrics for storage products in the cloud infrastructure for insights.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to plan and execute the engineering programs, including product development, and productivity improvements.
- Contribute innovative ideas with the team.
