The Systems Lead, SOX IT Internal Controls Compliance at Google plays a crucial role in shaping how Google manages technology risk, going beyond SOX compliance to actively influence it. This role involves advising on complex IT risk, providing thought leadership, and developing risk and control methodologies tailored for Google's unique environment. The position requires overseeing the IT SOX program lifecycle, influencing risks and controls, assessing technical issues, and driving improvements supporting security and financial statement integrity. Responsibilities include overseeing the IT SOX program lifecycle (risk assessments, scoping, testing coordination, deficiency management, and reporting), advising Engineering and Finance partners on technical risk and control matters (especially for key systems like SAP), participating in and managing special projects, helping develop and maintain IT risk and control guidance, and collaborating with stakeholders and service providers to coordinate testing and drive issue resolution.
Must have:
- Bachelor's degree in related field
- 4+ years of experience in IT audit, SOX compliance, or related fields
- SOX 404/ICFR experience
- SAP environment experience
- Oversee IT SOX program lifecycle
- Advise on technical risks and controls
Good to have:
- CPA, CISA, or CISSP certifications
- Experience managing multiple projects

Job Details
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Accounting, Finance, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 4 years of experience with a public accounting firm working in IT audit, SOX compliance, or related fields or within a public company SOX program management offices.
- Experience with SOX 404 / internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) concepts and requirements, including risk assessments, scoping, testing, deficiency assessment and management, and concluding/reporting.
- Experience working with SAP environments, including evaluating or testing SAP IT General Controls (ITGCs) and IT Application Controls (ITACs).
Preferred qualifications:
- Accounting or IT-related certifications, such as the CPA, CISA, or CISSP.
- Experience navigating ambiguity and managing or coordinating multiple project assignments simultaneously in a dynamic environment, embracing ownership and delivering on commitments while collaborating effectively with different stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-driven, proactive, with an ability to adapt quickly.

The SOX IT team actively shapes how Google manages technology risk, going beyond ensuring SOX compliance to actively influence it. You will serve as advisors on complex IT risk, providing thought leadership, guidance, and developing risk and control methodologies tailored for Google's unique environment. Through deep collaboration with Engineering and Finance across Alphabet, you will oversee the IT SOX program lifecycle, influence risks and controls, assess technical issues, and drive improvements that support security and financial statement integrity, ultimately shaping how Google's information systems are managed, operated, and controlled.
In this role, you'll work closely with senior team members and collaborate across Engineering and Finance to support the IT SOX program, advise on technical risks, assess controls within SAP and other systems, contribute to guidance development, and support testing oversight.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the IT SOX program life-cycle, including risk assessments, scoping, testing coordination, deficiency management, and reporting for specific business processes and systems.
- Advise Engineering and Finance partners on technical risk and control matters, particularly for key financial systems like SAP.
- Participate in and manage special projects related to new technologies, process enhancements, system implementations, etc.
- Help develop, maintain, and refine guidance, methodologies, and documentation related to IT risks and controls.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and service providers, coordinating testing execution and driving issue resolution.
