Job Description

The Technical Artist will develop and maintain the technical aspects of the avatar integration system for developers. Responsibilities include managing 3D-related engineering tasks, optimizing and adjusting 3D models, utilizing Blender and Python to create efficient 3D assets, collaborating on 3D model creation, ensuring assets meet performance requirements, and documenting the 3D asset handling pipeline. The role requires strong Python and 3D software skills (Blender), experience with character systems, and excellent problem-solving and communication abilities. The ideal candidate will assist early adopters by adjusting their assets and cage meshes, ensuring seamless integration of the avatar system into other products.
Must have:
  • 3+ years Game Dev experience (3D engineering/integration)
  • 3+ years Python programming experience
  • 2+ years experience with Blender and 3D engineering
  • Strong 3D asset engineering knowledge
  • Problem-solving and communication skills
Good to have:
  • TypeScript programming experience
  • WebGL, Three.js, or similar framework familiarity
  • Machine learning experience (generative AI)

About you: 

We are looking for a self-sufficient, experienced, and hands-on Technical Artist with strong Python skills. You excel at writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code and have experience working on character systems. Your role will involve building and improving geometry processing and rigging solutions for our 3D character customization system, which attracts high-quality games that value cross-game interoperable assets. Additionally, you will assist early adopters by adjusting their assets and cage meshes.

Your daily adventures will include:

  • Developing and maintaining the technical aspects of the avatar integration system for developers.
    Support our developer-focused platform by managing 3D-related engineering tasks, ensuring the seamless integration of our avatar system into other products, and resolving any arising issues.
  • Optimizing and adjusting 3D models for use within the platform. Utilize Blender, Python, and other tools to create efficient 3D assets, ensuring that models, skinning, materials, and textures meet customer requirements for real-time applications.
  • Collaborating on the creation of 3D models to ensure high quality and flexibility across implementations. Ensure assets meet performance requirements across various game engines and hardware setups, considering factors such as file size, memory footprint, LODs, materials, and texture compression.
  • Documenting and maintaining a clear pipeline for 3D asset handling to support team members. Provide clear guidance on using, modifying, and troubleshooting assets programmatically within the platform.


What you bring:

  • 3+ years of experience in Game Development, focusing on 3D engineering or integration.
  • 3+ years of experience programming with Python, C#, or equivalent languages for 3D applications.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with 3D software, particularly Blender, and relevant 3D engineering practices.
  • Strong programming knowledge applicable to 3D workflows. Expertise in Python and familiarity with C# in Unity or similar platforms, enabling the creation of tools and scripts within the 3D asset integration pipeline.
  • Deep understanding of 3D asset engineering. Proficient in programmatically handling mesh processing, rigging, and material & texture adjustments, with an excellent grasp of character systems.
  • Practical problem-solving abilities. Skilled in systematically addressing technical 3D challenges and developing robust solutions to meet complex 3D integration requirements.
  • Technical communication skills. Adept at explaining complex 3D and programming issues clearly and effectively to both engineering and non-technical teams.

As a bonus, it would be awesome if you:

  • Have experience programming with TypeScript.
  • Are familiar with WebGL, Three.js, or similar frameworks.
  • Have experience with machine learning, particularly in generative AI.
  • Have experience working in a startup or scaleup environment.
  • Love to play games and understand gaming culture.
