The Technical Program Manager III, Security, Chrome Browser at Google leads complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects. This role involves planning requirements with internal customers, managing project lifecycles (schedules, risk identification, stakeholder communication), and explaining analyses and recommendations to executives and engineers. Responsibilities include leading cross-functional teams, designing and rolling out processes/tools to improve development velocity and product launch quality, providing program management leadership for Chrome's security priorities, ensuring transparency and alignment among team members and stakeholders, and leveraging feature development understanding to improve operations and processes. The ideal candidate will have experience managing programs involving security development, vulnerability management, or other security protocols. Chrome is dedicated to building a better, more open web, prioritizing speed, simplicity, and security across all major platforms.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in technical field or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years program management experience
  • Experience in security development, vulnerability management, or security protocols
  • Lead cross-functional teams
  • Manage project lifecycles and risks
Good to have:
  • 5+ years managing cross-functional projects
  • Familiarity with open web development and Chromium

Job Details

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program management.
  • Experience in managing programs involving security development, vulnerability management, or other security protocols.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Familiarity with developing for the open web, including web standards bodies and Chromium.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.

Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage projects of various size and scope, identifying future opportunities, improving processes and driving the technical directions of your programs.

As a Technical Program Managers within the Chrome Browser team, you will provide a program management partnership cross-functionally. You will support Chrome Security development teams by leading, organizing, and managing projects and programs in collaboration with Developing and Product leads. You will manage and deliver on all of Chrome's priorities.

Chrome is dedicated to building a better, more open web. We’re focused on making a better browser (on both desktop and mobile) to help users take advantage of all the web has to offer in a safe and secure way.Chrome is available across all major platforms — iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, Linux and Chrome OS. We also built Chrome as an open source project so the entire web ecosystem could benefit from the latest innovations in speed, simplicity and security.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional teams of developers and product managers in executing projects and programs from concept to launch, including planning, tracking progress, identifying and resolving issues, and managing dependencies.
  • Design and roll-out processes and tools to increase the velocity of developing teams, and the quality of product launches.
  • Provide program management leadership for the portfolio of program priorities, and establish effective partnerships with developing and product leads.
  • Deliver continuous transparency to keep core team members aligned, and stakeholders informed. 
  • Leverage an understanding of feature development to identify and build new operational improvements and processes.
