Job Description

As a Trading and Member Surveillance Specialist at Nasdaq, you will be at the core of the marketplace, protecting market integrity and preserving confidence. You will analyze trading patterns to identify abnormal behavior indicative of suspicious market abuse, including insider trading and market manipulation, and other rule breaches. The role involves real-time trading surveillance, post-trade analysis, and interventions, such as trade breaks and suspensions. You will also address market participant inquiries, review membership applications, conduct risk assessments on market abuse risks, and propose improvements to the alert portfolio.
Must have:
  • Degree in Business administration, Economics, Finance, Engineering, or relevant areas.
  • Strong interest in financial markets and market integrity
  • Team player and solution-oriented person
  • Analytical and able to make quick decisions based on analysis
  • Excellent written and spoken English language skills.
Good to have:
  • Experience from financial markets and understanding of trading and financial instruments
  • Experience with the Market Abuse Regulation (MAR)
  • Broad knowledge of Microsoft Excel, proficiency with Word and PowerPoint
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Our Team

Surveillance within Nasdaq works to keep our markets fair and efficient by upholding effective and well-balanced regulation and fairly enforcing our rules. We are at the core of the marketplaces, and we interact with issuers, trading participants, investors and regulators to build and preserve confidence in our markets. We take part in forming rules and practices and we make important decisions to protect investors and to uphold orderly trading.

The team monitors trading in all asset classes across (equities, fixed income instruments and derivatives) the Nordic marketplaces that Nasdaq operates. Further, the team is responsible for admitting new trading members and to monitor their on-going compliance in relation to regulations and rules.

Employees within Surveillance are subject to restrictions with regards to trading in securities.

This is an exciting opportunity where you will be at the core of the marketplace with the goal to protect the integrity and preserve confidence in our markets. In this role, you will be analyzing trading patterns and identifying abnormal behavior that can indicate suspicious market abuse (e.g., insider trading and market manipulation), together with other forms of breaches of rules.

We offer you the opportunity to be part of one of Nasdaq’s key departments within the exchange side of our business. We are looking for someone with high integrity and analytical skills with the ambition to become an expert in several exciting areas of the financial markets and our products.

Your role and responsibilities

  • Surveillance of real time trading and post trade analysis.
  • Complete interventions in trading, e.g., trade breaks and suspensions
  • Address market participant inquiries.
  • Perform review of membership applications, and present assessments and conclusions to the Nasdaq decision makers.
  • Conduct annual risk assessments on Market abuse risks and on exchange members
  • Conduct annual review on exchange members
  • Propose improvements to the alert portfolio and perform test on alert calibration

We expect you to have

  • A degree in Business administration, Economics, Finance, Engineering or other relevant areas.
  • Strong interest in financial markets and market integrity
  • To be a team player and solution-orientated person
  • Analytical and able to make quick decisions based on analysis from various sources of information.
  • Excellent language skills in both written and spoken English.

Additional plus if you have

What happens now?

This is a full time position located in Stockholm. Nasdaq offers a hybrid workplace to find a balance between working from home and collaborating in the office, therefore it's required to come into the office at least 2 days per week.
