Summary

Onward Search seeks a Training Specialist for a 12+ month contract with an Energy/Utilities client in Charlotte, NC. This hybrid role (2-3 days onsite) requires 20-40% travel. Responsibilities include serving as a subject matter expert for complex training projects, conducting needs assessments, developing and delivering various training solutions (instructor-led, e-learning, etc.), staying updated on training trends, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and providing training in specialized areas (OMS, ADMS, DMS, FISR, etc.). The ideal candidate possesses expertise in training design, development, and administration, experience with LMS systems and tools (Articulate Suite, Vyond, Camtasia, JIRA), and knowledge of Agile methodologies and the electric/energy/utility sectors.

We are currently seeking a Training Specialist for a 12+ month contract opportunity with an Energy/Utilities client based in Charlotte, NC. This position requires a hybrid onsite schedule (2-3 days per week onsite) and 20-40% travel.

In this role, you will play a critical part in delivering innovative and effective training solutions to support key business objectives. The ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert in task-based training areas, responsible for overseeing the research, design, analysis, and execution of training initiatives. You will work across various training formats, ensuring all programs align with business needs and contribute to the success of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for complex training projects, ensuring they align with business processes and objectives.
  • Conduct needs assessments and analyze training requirements throughout all stages—from design to post-deployment—to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Develop and deliver a variety of training solutions, including instructor-led sessions, e-learning, train-the-trainer programs, and end-user training.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging training trends and best practices, incorporating them into your training programs.
  • Participate in industry seminars, conferences, and networking events to enhance training strategies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on major projects and process improvement initiatives.
  • Provide training and support in specialized areas such as OMS, ADMS, DMS, FISR, Customer Systems, Work Order Processes, and Work Methods.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven expertise in training design, development, and administration, with experience in LMS systems and tools such as Articulate Suite (Rise, Storyline), Vyond, Camtasia, and JIRA.
  • Strong understanding of Agile project methodologies, system development life cycles, and project management principles.
  • Proficiency in MS Teams and other remote collaboration tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of the electric, energy, and utility sectors, including electric distribution and transmission grid systems.
  • Strong self-motivation with the ability to work effectively in matrixed environments and meet tight deadlines.

Preferred Certifications and Experience:

  • Kirkpatrick or ATD certifications (or familiarity with these methodologies).
  • Experience in supporting major outage event responses, including working extended hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • MUST have ability to travel 20-40%.

To qualify for our benefits package, you must work over 30 hours per week, and the length of assignment must be a minimum of 10 weeks.
