Job Description

Bladework Games seeks a 3D Character and Weapons Artist to create high-resolution 3D sculpts and low-poly characters/creatures for their online multiplayer game. Responsibilities include interpreting concept designs, ensuring model consistency with the game's style, iterating on assets, and providing feedback. The ideal candidate has experience with stylized art, modern game engines (Unreal, Unity), and 3D/2D software (Maya, Substance Painter, ZBrush). Strong hard-surface modeling skills and a passion for multiplayer games are essential. The role involves close collaboration within a small team.

  • Game engine proficiency (Unreal, Unity)
  • Maya, Substance Painter, ZBrush skills
  • Hard-surface modeling expertise

Job Details

Bladework Games is an independent game studio developing an original, living, online multiplayer IP for the PC first and cross platform future. We are building a new take on the dungeon running experience, focused on fast-paced, fun, co-op competitive experiences.

We're looking for someone who wants to be part of the core foundation of Bladework Games. A character artist who has a solid understanding of character design along with a passion for bringing characters to life. As a 3D Character & Weapon Artist, you will work closely with other members of the team to create interesting and functional characters and weapons that match the game’s artistic style. If you love playing games and enjoy the challenge and responsibilities coming from a small team, you might be a great fit.

Responsibilities

  • Create high-resolution 3D sculpts and final low polygon characters and creatures that fit within the project art style

  • Interpret concept designs while taking into account technical and design constraints

  • Push 3D character art quality for the game

  • Ensure character models are consistent with the visual style of the game

  • Iterate on game assets via prototyping and group feedback

  • Voice your feedback and opinions!

Requirements

  • Professional experience working in stylized art styles

  • Experience working with modern game engines such as Unreal, Unity, or proprietary technologies

  • Proficient skills in 3D/2D Software - Maya, Substance Painter, ZBrush

  • Game development experience specializing in weapons,/mechanical modeling using Maya (hard surface techniques)

  • Strong understanding of real-time game development tools and processes

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively partner with cross-discipline teams.

  • Deep passion for multiplayer games and player experience.

Pluses

  • Experience with Unreal Engine
