Hawk-Eye Innovations is seeking a local consultant operator in Germany for Live Augmented Reality (Live AR) broadcasts across European football. The role involves supporting match operations one day per week, shadowing experienced operators, acting as a linguistic/cultural intermediary, and eventually taking over full Live AR operations. Responsibilities include setup and operation of Live AR graphics systems, communication bridging, maintaining technical standards, and assisting with logistical or technical issues. Candidates should be fluent in German and English, possess solid hardware understanding, and have previous broadcast or live production experience. The role requires flexibility with working hours in a high-pressure sports environment.

Job Details

Location: On-site at stadiums around the UCL clubs in Germany

Contract: Freelance

Daily Rate: €240 Onwards, depending on experience and travel required

Expected Start Date: July for training and August for Matches

What The Role Is All About:

As part of our expansion in the use of Live Augmented Reality (Live AR) across European football broadcasts, we are seeking a local consultant operator in Germany to support one match per week in each territory for the upcoming season.

These operators will work closely with our CRP team during the transition phase and are expected to shadow initial matchdays, support as linguistic/cultural intermediaries, and eventually take over full Live AR operation responsibilities.

Working day expectations:

  • Setup Day -> Starts around 9 am on the day before the Match Day

  • Match Day -> Arrival up to 7 hours pre-Kick Off

  • Match Day -> End of day up to 2 hours post-game completion

  • The role requires the AR Operator to be flexible with work hours, depending on the needs of the onsite team

We will equip you with the technical training, support and full exposure to our systems to perform your tasks, but also encourage development and progression to help make an impact on what we do.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the setup and operation of Live AR graphics systems at match venues

  • Shadow CRP Live AR operators during initial matches (MD1–MD3)

  • Serve as a communication bridge between local teams and international staff

  • Ensure technical and operational standards are maintained on-site

  • Assist in managing any logistical or technical issues on matchday

  • Potentially travel for away matches if the Live AR match follows a non-home team

Required Skills & Experience

  • Fluent in German, with strong English communication skills

  • Solid hardware understanding – PCs, SDI routing, XLR/talkback systems

  • Previous broadcast or live production experience

  • Comfortable working in a high-pressure sports environment

  • Reliable and self-sufficient with strong problem-solving skills

  • Availability for training during July and August

What Difficulties Might I Face?

Up to this point, I’m sure there have been many things that you find intriguing about the role, however, there can be difficult times:

Working hours: Due to the nature of the sports industry, there will be work on midweek evenings, and we are expected to fulfil our roles until the last minute.

Different time zones: Due to the global nature of our operations, some of our support teams will be based in different countries in different time zones, and this is something to bear in mind when communicating.

High-pressure situations: Working in a live broadcast environment on a production that is distributed to millions worldwide will bring high levels of pressure.

All of these factors offer different challenges daily. We will do all that we can to train you and support you to the best possible level, but these challenges must be considered before submitting your application.
