N26 is seeking a Business Audit Senior Associate to join their Group Internal Audit department. The role involves examining and assessing risk management and internal control systems, as well as ensuring the effectiveness and appropriateness of all activities and processes. Responsibilities include supporting the development of an independent Internal Group Audit, performing the full audit cycle (risk management, control management, effectiveness, financial reliability, compliance), determining audit scope, developing annual plans, analyzing documentation and reports for various operations processes, preparing audit reports, and monitoring the remediation of identified findings. The role requires adherence to professional and regulatory standards.
Must have:
  • Degree in Economics, Law, or comparable field.
  • 3-5 years of experience as an Internal Auditor.
  • Strong understanding of business processes.
  • Knowledge of online banking and retail banking products.
  • Familiarity with banking laws and regulations.
  • Good written and verbal English and German skills.
Good to have:
  • Experience in a regulated environment, ideally banking or financial services.
  • Experience at a reputable audit/consulting firm.
  • Willingness to acquire in-depth knowledge of local banking regulations.

About the opportunity

We are seeking a Business Audit Senior Associate whose function will be to examine and assess in a risk-oriented and process-independent manner the effectiveness and appropriateness of the risk management system in general and of the internal control system in particular as well as the appropriateness of all activities and processes in general, irrespective of whether or not they have been outsourced.

In this role, you will:

  • Support the development of an independent Internal Group Audit within the N26 Group. 
  • Perform the full audit cycle including risk management and control management over operations’ effectiveness, financial reliability and compliance with all applicable directives and regulations. 
  • Help in determining internal audit scope and developing annual plans. 
  • Obtain, analyse and evaluate documentation, reports, data, flowcharts etc. for operations processes to which assigned such as Financial Accounting, People, Marketing, Customer Service, Banking Operations etc. 
  • Support to prepare the Internal Audit reports. 
  • Monitor in an appropriate form whether the findings identified during the audit are remedied within the specified timeframe.
  • Performing their work in accordance with established professional and regulatory standards.

What you need to be successful:

  • A successfully completed degree in Economics, Law, or a comparable field of study or professional training.
  • 3 to 5 years of professional experience as an Internal Auditor within an international organization operating in a regulated environment—ideally within the banking or financial services sector, or at a reputable audit/consulting firm.
  • Strong understanding of business processes, with solid knowledge of online banking systems and retail banking products.
  • Familiarity with banking laws and regulatory requirements; willingness to acquire in-depth knowledge of local banking regulations, compliance standards, and relevant IT systems.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English and German.
