EA SPORTS Madden NFL seeks a C++ Software Engineer Generalist in Madrid for a permanent, hybrid role. Responsibilities involve live game creation across multiple platforms, including architectural design, implementation, and debugging. The role requires 5+ years of software development experience in games or embedded systems, strong C++ skills, familiarity with online services and APIs (REST, JSON, XML), and experience with 3rd party APIs and Visual Studio debugging. Live development cycle knowledge is essential. Roughly 70-85% of the role involves hands-on C++ coding.

The Generalist Engineer will be a part of the game live creation process, including architectural design, implementation, and debugging on multiple platforms—working on complex problems with Designers, Artists and other Engineers in domains including rendering, gameplay, audio, user interface, online, physics, databases and tools. You will report to the Operations Development Director and Technical Lead to estimate, build projects and provide excellent results.

Your Responsibilities

  • 5+ years of experience in software development either in games or another industry, working on Microsoft, Sony or Nintendo game consoles or other embedded systems.
  • Knowledge of C++.
  • Json and XML, able to read/understand and write.
  • Experience working with online services/servers.
  • Knowledge of REST-based APIs.
  • Knowledge with Action Script and HTML.
  • Experience with 3rd party APIs.
  • Experience with Visual Studio and knowledge of the debugging tools.
  • Experience with source control systems.
  • Knowledge of live development cycles and requirements.

Your Qualifications

  • Roughly 70 to 85% hands-on coding (C++) domain ownership will be expected.
  • Work with 3rd party software APIs.
  • Work with people on a large team both locally and remotely.
  • Use common software engineering design patterns and paradigms.
  • Use and design REST-based HTTP APIs.
  • Experience with live development.
