The Entry Level Indirect Tax Analyst is responsible for preparing sales tax returns and researching related compliance issues. This role involves assisting with sales tax audits, preparing state registrations, and annual reports. The analyst will collaborate with the Accounting Department and various UFP plants to ensure proper sales and use tax compliance, reconcile general ledger accounts, and handle other duties as assigned. The position requires strong analytical, communication, organizational, and multi-tasking skills. The candidate must be self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines, demonstrating proficiency in English and computer applications. This role requires the ability to communicate with management, multitask, and pay attention to detail.
Must have:

Job Summary

The Entry Level Indirect Tax Analyst is responsible for sales tax return preparation, including applicable research related to sales tax compliance issues. Also, assist with gathering information and responding to sales tax audits. Additional duties may include preparing state registrations and annual reports.

Works under general supervision; relies on experience and judgment to accomplish goals; and requires a certain degree of autonomy to perform the job.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual sales tax returns.

  • Prepares state registrations and annual reports.

  • Gathers information for sales tax audits.

  • Works closely with the Accounting Department and various UFP plants and business units to ensure proper compliance with sales and use tax issues.

  • Assists in the preparation of property tax returns.

  • Reconciles sales tax general ledger accounts.

  • Performs additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.

  • Performs other duties as required.

Job Specifications

Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in accounting or finance is preferred.

  • This is an entry-level position. No corporate tax experience is required.  

  • Working knowledge and proficiency in the use of computer and business-related software, including Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, and Outlook are required)

Skills and abilities

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Strong verbal and written communication, organizational, multi-tasking, attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

  • Self-motivated to independently organize and prioritize workload within a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines.

  • Proficiency in the use of the English language in reading, writing and speaking

  • Ability to communicate with management regarding people, products and equipment

  • Ability to multitask and pay attention to detail

  • Ability to be mobile in the work environment

  • Ability to pass a drug test

  • Ability to work hours mandated by management

Conduct

  • Self-managing; works well under little supervision

  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic

  • Conducts in a professional manner.
