This position requires coordinating with various teams including technical, administrative, and managerial personnel. At the higher level, responsibilities also include integrating sitewide maintenance resources and overseeing subcontractors. The role ensures compliance with environmental, safety, and health regulations.

Pay Range

$120,510 - $178,464 Annually

$120,510 - $147,564 Annually for the 369.1 Level
$145,740 - $178,464 Annually for the 369.2 Level  

This is the lowest to highest salary in good faith we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. Job Description

We have an opening for an Explosives Facility Maintenance Coordinator at Site 300. You will provide advanced technical and administrative oversight and coordination for multi-disciplined crafts with experience in mechanical and electrical disciplines in support of planning facility, infrastructure, and programmatic related work activities, including maintenance, repairs, replacements, minor modifications, and or tenant improvements. You will be responsible for coordinating, planning, and directing material, equipment, and resources for work requests and initiatives in supporting repair, replacement, and maintenance of buildings, grounds, equipment, utilities, and infrastructure systems. This position is in the Facilities Operations and Support Division, within the Strategic Deterrence Directorate.

This position requires full-time on-site presence due to the nature of the work.

This position will be filled at either level based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if hired at the higher level.

In this role you will 

  • Develop work packages in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to include craft specific work scope, task breakdowns, material, and equipment required to perform work plan. Facilitate any changes to work packages, with involvement of Work Management Group as appropriate.
  • Translate work requests into clearly bound work scopes and task breakdowns using field walkdowns with multi discipline personnel, analysis of complex systems and components, and comprehensive knowledge of facility engineering principles including safe work practices.
  • Coordinate procurement and inventory management of spare parts based on feedback from preventative maintenance schedules, tenant needs, and engineering teams.
  • Analyze moderately complex data in relation to work requests received, identify issues and plan projects to solve problems and implement solutions for facility maintenance and replacement issues; ensure compliance with all applicable Environmental, Safety, and Health (ES&H) requirements.
  • Direct procurements and maintenance activities including planned preventive maintenance, corrective repair and replacement projects, construction projects, planning, inspection or similar activities.
  • Initiate and lead work request review meetings, triage work requests to determine the level of work planning required. Provide advanced technical and administrative oversight and coordination, train, and mentor others in your area of expertise.
  • Collaborate with technical, administrative, and managerial personnel including Safety and Security personnel, and external vendors to communicate specific work plan processes.
  • Plan and conduct meetings where maintenance work process concepts are translated into possible courses of action.
  • Plan and conduct Maintenance Lookahead meetings with facility and programmatic stakeholders and schedule Maintenance resources as necessary.
  • Assist in developing Maintenance Strategy and Maintenance Plans for facilities and equipment.
  • Supervise Mechanical and Electronic Technicians within the Facility Maintenance Team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional job responsibilities, at the 369.2 level

  • Integrate sitewide Maintenance resources for facility maintenance needs, identifying all necessary permits and operational requirements, to include nuclear and high-hazard areas.
  • Serve as the Alternate Subcontract Technical Representative and/or Alternate Responsible Individual for various maintenance and repair subcontracts including overseeing subcontractor's work to ensure safety, quality, and job completion.
  • Analyze complex data in relation to work requests received, identify issues, and plan projects to solve problems and implement solutions for facility maintenance and replacement issues; ensure compliance with all applicable ES&H and building code requirements are met; provide input for policy/procedure generation.
  • Responsible for directing, specifying, or defining complex technical, manufacturing, construction and/or maintenance projects and/or operations; may have significant responsibility for defining complex technical performance/regulatory compliance requirements.

Qualifications

  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, or related technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience with significant experience in ES&H, construction, and/or maintenance and operations of facility systems.
  • Experience working as a project manager, work planner, and/or work activity coordinator performing or providing technical and/or planning support for moderate to complex maintenance work activities, using knowledge of the various types of materials, equipment, and methods for performing maintenance.
  • Significant facilitation, leadership, and verbal written communication skills are necessary to lead and facilitate multi-disciplinary teams of technical experts through technical discussions and planning meetings, including conflict resolution skills necessary to resolve differing professional opinions.
  • Advanced hazard identification and mitigation skills associated with maintenance job tasks and work areas.
  • Advanced technical writing skills with experience developing technical documents such as work procedures, work instructions, specifications, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, planning of multiple projects to include maintenance/construction project coordination, planning/estimating, and inspecting.
  • Experience with personal computers and related software (e.g., email, Microsoft Word, etc.) and associated (CMMS) work control software to manage and track job orders.

Additional qualifications at the 369.2 level

  • Highly advanced experience, technical skills, and knowledge in planning multiple projects to include maintenance/construction project planning, estimating, coordinating, and inspecting.
  • Experience providing highly advanced technical and administrative oversight of procured work services subcontracted work and providing direction to others.
  • Highly advanced knowledge of the different types of equipment, materials, and methods used for maintenance and repair of conventional facility systems and knowledge of the standards, procedures and techniques related to maintenance/ construction project coordination.
  • Experience conducting meetings to formulate ideas/concepts where policy/procedures are generated in support of job planning.

Site 300 is an experimental test site operated by LLNL.  Situated on 7,000 acres in rural foothills approximately six miles southwest of downtown Tracy and 15 miles southeast of Livermore, Site 300 hosts approximately 200 employees with expertise in such fields as engineering, chemistry, biology, and environmental restoration. Employees assigned to work at Site 300 may be exposed to the organism that causes San Joaquin Valley Fever (coccidioidomycosis).

Security Clearance

This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.  If you are selected, we will initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. Also, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing.  Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.
