About the job:
As an Interaction Designer at Google Maps, you'll be responsible for designing key features of the consumer maps cartographic experience. You'll work closely with product managers, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to understand requirements and provide creative solutions. You'll communicate the user experience at various stages of the design process with wireframes, flow diagrams, storyboards, mockups, and high-fidelity prototypes. You'll integrate user feedback and business requirements into ongoing product experience updates and advocate for design-centered changes, refinements, and improvements. You'll also be responsible for collaborating with your design partners to leverage and evolve the Google design language to build beautiful, innovative, and inspired products that people love to use.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 4 years of interaction design experience
  • Experience designing across multiple platforms (Web, iOS, Android, Wearables)
  • Bringing features from concept to launch
  • Collaboration with stakeholders
  • Communication with wireframes, flow diagrams, mockups
Good to have:
  • Master's degree in Design, HCI, Computer Science
  • 2 years of experience in a complex, cross-functional organization
  • Experience in building user experience, including designing frameworks, prototyping and user research
  • Experience in designing, implementing, or evolving design frameworks
  • Experience in interaction design and product thinking, with visual design skills
  • Understanding of designing within 3D environments or with 3D design technologies (Unreal, Unity, etc.)

Minimum qualifications:

The Geo team is focused on building the most accurate, comprehensive, and useful maps for our users, through products like Maps, Earth, Street View, Google Maps Platform, and more. Every month, more than a billion people rely on Maps services to explore the world and navigate their daily lives.

The Geo team also enables developers to use the power of Google Maps platforms to enhance their apps and websites. As they plot a course for the future of mapping, they are solving complex computer science problems, designing beautiful and intuitive product experiences, and improving our understanding of the real world.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $122,000-$178,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
