Overall Purpose of The Job
The Purchaser will be joining the Centralized Working Gear Project and will assist in supplementation of uniforms to crew on board vessels.
This role performs data acquisition, replenishment planning, purchasing activities to ensure timely and sufficient delivery of working gear on board vessels with due consideration of vessel annual budget, year to date spend and crew changes.
This role may also handle ad hoc tasks as defined by the business unit.
Key Responsibilities And Tasks
- Maintains positive performance-driven relationship with key business unit stakeholders, departments and colleagues.
- Maintains inventory of working gear stock on board such as, but not limited to, Boiler Suits and Safety Shoes on the assigned vessels.
- Be the point of contact for the selected Supplier(s) to ensure availability of items and smooth and timely delivery to vessel.
- Develop knowledge in purchasing and logistics activities with close cooperation with the Fleet Purchasing Team ensuring that additional delivery charges are avoided during consolidated shipment.
- Assists in liaising with Crewing Teams where applicable for organizing working gear for joining crew where there is insufficient stock on board.
- Supports in provision of quarterly and annual reports on adoption and utilization of working gear.
- Assists in liaising with the Crewing Commercial Team and Crewing Teams to ensure sufficient replenishment of supplies to vessel with due consideration of vessel annual budget less the year-to-date spend.
- Monitors overall costs and profitability of the working gear project.
- Liaises with Planning Managers to get approvals from clients where required.
- Performs expediting of orders, updating delivery status and communication to Masters of the vessel.
- Assists in confirming invoices for to ensure timely process of payment to supplier.
- Provides input on Supplier Performance based on daily transactions.

Essential
- Bachelor’s degree with 12 months relevant experience.
- Good working knowledge in MS Office tools and online apps for work purposes.
- Good interpersonal skills and effective communicator
- Adept in numbers and analytical.
- Detail and process-oriented, efficient and organized professional.
- Able to adapt in a multi-cultural environment.
- Strong minded with robust personality.
