As a Senior Engineer in the MCCP Environment Management / SRE Team, you will drive the adoption of SRE practices and become an expert in the MCCP Platform. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with various teams for releases, managing environment builds, automating processes, and ensuring seamless deployments. You will also be responsible for bug fixes, enhancements, and technical solutions, ensuring high-quality delivery and optimizing pipelines. You will also be involved in designing solutions, leading application fixes, managing code, updating documentation, and maintaining strong relationships with various teams. The role requires working in hybrid mode, potentially including out-of-hours support and weekend work.
Must have:
  • Lead collaboration with Production/Dev/Test/BA teams for releases.
  • Drive bug fixes, enhancements and technical solutions.
  • Manage and optimize environment builds from GitLab pipelines.
  • Ensure all activities are performed to ITIL standards.
  • Automate and maintain robust GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
  • Develop and maintain monitoring solutions, including DataDog.
  • Lead application fixes and ensures timely deployment of patches.
  • Lead code management through GitLab/Bitbucket.
  • Update documentation and relevant Wikis with changes.
  • Hands-on UNIX/Linux System Administration skills.
  • Hands-on scripting (Bash/Shell scripting) with a focus on automation.
Good to have:
  • Exposure to Geneos, Control-M, Murex, IBM MQ, Python, DataDog, PowerShell, GitLab, AWS Cloud Technologies and Jenkins.

Role Profile

LSEG's Post Trade Technology Division is looking for a Senior Engineer for our MCCP Environment Management / SRE Team in Malabe, Sri Lanka. As a key member of our dynamic team, you will play a role in driving the adoption of SRE practices within the team while becoming an expert in MCCP Platform.

The candidate will work closely with development, operation, and security teams to design, build, automate processes, streamline workflows, reduction of toil  and improve resilience & efficiency. 

  

They would be required to work on morning, day or night shift based on UK time according to the monthly roster and expected to work from the office covering at least 3 days per week in hybrid mode. Out-of-hours support overnight and across weekends and bank holidays may be needed. 

  

Interest in building strong business knowledge in addition to technical skills is valuable for working with business teams during investigations. They need to work closely with domain experts and build understanding of the underlying technologies used by the applications. 

Must be self-motivating with the ability to prioritize work and should be able to learn and adapt to fast paced environment. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead collaboration with Production/Dev/Test/BA teams for releases and oversee environment maintenance, ensuring seamless deployment from test to production in an agile environment.
  • Drive bug fixes, enhancements, and technical solutions for MCCP and London Clearing House (LCH) products, ensuring high-quality delivery.
  • Manage and optimize regular environment builds from GitLab pipelines, improving efficiency and automation.
  • Ensure all activities are performed to ITIL standards, following LCH/LSEG policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Coordinate the release process for new releases, ensuring smooth deployment.
  • Automate and maintain robust GitLab CI/CD pipelines, ensuring scalability and performance of all related processes.
  • Develop and maintain monitoring solutions including DataDog to ensure reliability and performance of applications.
  • Design solutions for longer term fixes for application bugs and small functionality enhancement requests 
  • Lead application fixes and ensures timely deployment of patches and improvements.
  • Lead code management through GitLab/Bitbucket, ensuring clean, high-quality, and versioned source code.
  • Update documentation and relevant Wikis with changes and new procedures to ensure knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Maintain a strong working relationship with onshore teams, business teams and cross-functional application support teams.
  • Support weekend releases and maintenance work, ensuring availability and system stability
  • Take ownership of regular project-related JIRA tasks, ensuring successful delivery and alignment with project timelines.
  • Mentor juniors within the offshore MCCP Environment Management team and ensure knowledge retention.

Candidate Profile / Key Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (IT, Software Engineering, or Computer Science)
  • Minimum 3 years of industry experience in SRE/App support/DevOps/Software Engineering or in a similar technology-based role
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and manage complex stakeholder relationships.
  • Effective communication skills in English
  • Hands-on UNIX/Linux System Administration skills, with hands-on experience managing complex environments.
  • Hands-on scripting (Bash/Shell scripting) with a focus on automation and efficiency.
  • Hands-on Oracle Database/SQL query writing skills, with experience optimizing and troubleshooting large-scale databases.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and Ansible, with proven experience building and optimizing automated workflows.
  • Good understanding of the product development lifecycle, agile methodologies, scrum practices and best practices in software engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with version control systems (Bitbucket, GitHub, GitLab), including code branching, merging, and release management.
  • Ability to mentor junior engineers, provide guidance on best practices and foster continuous learning.
  • Exposure to Geneos, Control-M, Murex, IBM MQ, Python, DataDog, PowerShell, GitLab, AWS Cloud Technologies and Jenkins will be an added advantage.
