Position Summary

Essential Job Functions:

• Database Administration & Management: Expertise in SQL database structure design, administration, and management for production, test, and development environments on Windows platforms.
• High Availability & Clustering: Strong experience in implementing and maintaining Always-On High Availability solutions (both two-node and three-node configurations) and working with multi-subnet clusters.
• Cloud Migration: Experience in migrating SQL Servers to Azure Cloud, ensuring minimal downtime and smooth transitions.
• Performance Tuning & Troubleshooting: Proficient in complex query analysis, performance tuning, and troubleshooting database integrity issues, performance bottlenecks, blocking, deadlocking, replication, log shipping, SQL clustering, connectivity, and security challenges.
• Patching & Upgrades: Responsible for patching SQL services on a quarterly basis and performing regular database software upgrades, ensuring the systems are always up to date.
• SQL Development: Expertise in creating and maintaining Views, Stored Procedures, and System Functions in MS SQL Server across multiple versions (2005, 2008, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019, and 2022).
• Reporting & Integration: Experience in using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) for report creation and management, and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) for data integration tasks.
• Monitoring & Optimization: Regularly monitor database performance, perform proactive tuning, and resolve issues that affect system performance and availability.
• Always-On Availability Groups: In-depth experience with implementing and managing SQL Server Always-On Availability Groups to ensure high availability and disaster recovery.
• Security & Permissions Management: Managing database roles, users, and permissions to maintain strict security protocols and ensure that databases are secure, available, and recoverable.
• Software Installation & Migration: Install, configure, and patch SQL database software. Complete database migrations and upgrades as needed.
• Web Application Support: Collaborate with web application development teams to optimize database interactions for better performance and efficiency.
• Mentorship & Support: Provide technical assistance and mentorship to junior associates, fostering a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related area

Required Experience:

• 10-12 years of experience with Database Administration for MSSQL Server.
• Migrating SQL services from On-Perm to Azure Cloud.
• Upgrade SQL services from Lower versions to Higher versions.
• Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database problems.
• Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
• Experience with Microsoft Replication design, implementation and support.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server Always On availability groups - design, implementation and support.
• Experience with backups, restores and recovery models.
• Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MSSQL Server.
• Experience in implementing operational automation using scripts.
• Knowledge of indexes, index management, and statistics.
• Experience working with Windows servers, including Active Directory and proper disk configurations.
• Good communication and documentation skills.
• Willingness to work in an on-shore & Off-shore environment

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Strong understanding of MS SQL Server (mix of 2005, 2008, 2012, 2014, 2016,2017,2019 and 2022)
• Azure Cloud Database administration.
• MySQL Administration.
• Always-on high availability.
• Migrating and Upgrading SQL services.
• Intimate knowledge and demonstrable expertise with database planning
• Record of solid operations management
• Troubleshooting skill and ability to coordinate with systems staff              
• Proven record of good judgment in solving problems and handling technical challenges
• Ability and desire to work with technical and non-technical people
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Customer service acumen and effective company communications
• Self-motivated and willing to work long hours and off-hours        as needed during certain MUST require situations
• Must have the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and technical staff
• Contributes to a positive team environment
