A Buyer 2 at Nissan is responsible for sourcing, price negotiation, and cost reduction for complex commodities. This role requires strong negotiation skills, knowledge of commercial and legal regulations, and experience in the automotive industry. Experience in cost reduction plans, contract management, and supplier relationship management is essential.

Responsible for sourcing, price negotiations and cost reduction activities for a group of progressively complex commodities. Interfaces with other departments and suppliers to ensure successful execution of commodity contracts. Assists buyers with conducting major negotiations and addressing non-routine activities. Prepares formal presentations and leads meetings as required.

Job Functions:

  • Providing instruction and guidance to buyers to drive and deliver results.

  • Develops strategic sourcing plans and manages sourcing activities for commodities. Performs comparative analysis of competing suppliers in order to recommend the most competitive source for a specified commodity.

  • Negotiates and establishes commodity prices in support of the department’s cost reduction goals. Assists other buyers with complex price negotiations.

  • Engages with end users of assigned commodities (client groups and/or engineers) to establish understanding of the requirements and specifications of commodities.

  • Plans, develops, implements, and maintains cost reduction plans for assigned commodities. Tracks and validates cost savings data.

  • Establishes, executes, and manages contracts for assigned commodities; issues and maintains purchase orders, and related purchasing records. In collaboration with upper management, manages cost changes for assigned commodities.

  • Coordinates activities between all departments and supplier base to ensure contract compliance and resolution of all major issues dealing with quality, cost, delivery, and design.

  • Supports requests from others for data creation, data confirmation, status updates, and other activities as needed.

  • Contributes to departmental knowledge transfer by facilitating onboarding of new buyers, coaching buyers.

  • Communicates with global counterparts to facilitate alignment of purchasing activities.

  • Develops critical work instructions, procedures, and engages in workflow improvement for the team and/or department to maximize efficiency and coordination or purchasing activities.

  • As necessary, performs other related duties of which the above are representative.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or a related field or equivalent experiences.

Experience:

Minimum 2-3 years of related experience at a professional level.

Required knowledge:

Be involved in sourcing and cost reduction activities, including budget analysis, quote analysis, quote formation, benchmarking, cost forecasting, and negotiation. Proven ability to meet and exceed performance objectives in previous roles. Strong knowledge of commercial and legal regulations, automotive industry and assigned commodity.

Language:

English (Advanced)

Computer Skills:

Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. An ability to learn and utilize other computer applications as necessary.

Availability to travel (Visa and Passport active)
