The Audio & Video Buyer manages the buying and implementation process, collaborating with planning and trafficking teams. This role provides input on investment direction and executes broadcast media buys. Responsibilities include analyzing data, ensuring data quality, resolving issues, developing execution strategies, and preparing reports. The buyer works with investment leadership to understand market dynamics, strengthen vendor relationships, and optimize campaign performance to achieve client goals. It also involves analyzing preemption activities and negotiation of compensation. The ideal candidate will have experience in media planning and buying.
Must have:
  • Minimum 2 years of media planning/buying experience, focused on TV.
  • Knowledge of broadcast industry tools (Lens, Infosys, Media Ocean, etc.).
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency with numbers and budgets.
  • Advanced level MS Office skills: Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The Audio & Video Buyer is the steward of the buying and implementation process and collaborates with wider buying, media planning and trafficking teams. The role is critical in providing input to the overall investment direction as well as the development and execution of broadcast media buys for their assigned group of clients.

Accountabilities:

  • Access and compile large volumes of data across disparate sources into concise and precise information 

  • Ensure data quality and data documentation.

  • Solve problems with internal and external clients on data issues.

  • Ability to determine and gather data requirements for a given project. 

  • Identify and resolve data discrepancies and reporting issues. 

  • Supports the media planning and buying teams throughout campaign activation process to maintain performance and resolves any campaign-related issues. 

  • Uses tools to develop the best possible execution strategy, rationale and buy structure to deliver on campaign goals. 

  • Works closely with the investment leadership team to understand market dynamics (pricing, execution opportunities) and strengthen vendor relationships. 

  • Recommends the delivery of buy structures that encompass the best environments for each client’s target audience, while maximizing value and efficiency. 

  • Prepares reporting documentation for media planning teams and clients demonstrating the strategy and rationale executed to deliver on campaign goals.

  • Analyzes preemption/makegood activity to ensure value delivery is enhanced wherever possible.

  • Actualizes each campaign, including the negotiation of compensation for use on future campaigns.

  • Contributes to the overall campaign strategy and finds ways to improve and optimize campaign performance to meeting client goals.

  • Understands the impact of under-delivering stations/properties and uses this learning to influence and optimize future buy structures and executions.

Qualifications: 

  • Post-secondary Degree or Diploma in Media, Advertising, Business Administration, Marketing, or related field.

  • A minimum 2 year of media planning and/or buying experience focused on TV.

  • Knowledge and hands-on experience with broadcast industry tools (Lens, Infosys, Media Ocean, etc.). 

  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency with numbers and budgets.

  • Advanced level MS Office skills: Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP’s, etc.), Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Must be able to work with cross functional teams and multiple stakeholders.

  • High-level of confidence with an ability to manage expectations with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Aptitude for priority management where it concerns managing multiple deliverables/work streams.

  • Ability to organize ideas and present back information logically and sequentially. 

Additional information

The salary range for this position is $50k-$55k. Actual salary within the salary range will be based on a variety of factors including relevant experience, knowledge, and skills. A range of medical, dental, RRSP, paid time off, and/or other benefits also are available to all permanent employees.
