Job Description

AECOM is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Engineer for their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role is crucial for managing project costs, preparing estimates, and ensuring financial efficiency in construction and engineering projects. The Cost Engineer will develop and maintain accurate cost estimates, analyze project costs to identify overruns and propose savings, and prepare/review change orders. Responsibilities include collaborating with project managers, engineers, and contractors for cost-effective execution, monitoring budgets, tracking costs, conducting cost-benefit analyses, and preparing detailed cost reports for stakeholders. The role also involves assisting in budget development, financial forecasting, and identifying/mitigating financial risks. Continuous improvement of cost estimation and control processes is also a key aspect of this position.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in cost engineering
  • Proficiency in cost estimation software
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of construction methods and materials
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Good to have:
  • Experience in engineering contract document review
  • Familiarity with project management principles
  • Experience with value engineering
  • Familiarity with local Saudi Arabian construction regulations
  • Professional certification (e.g., CCP)

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Engineer to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in managing project costs, preparing estimates, and ensuring financial efficiency across our construction and engineering initiatives.

  • Develop and maintain accurate cost estimates for construction and engineering projects
  • Analyze project costs, identify potential cost overruns, and propose cost-saving measures
  • Prepare and review change orders, evaluating their financial impact on projects
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure cost-effective project execution
  • Monitor project budgets and track actual costs against estimates
  • Conduct cost-benefit analyses for various project alternatives
  • Prepare detailed cost reports and presentations for management and stakeholders
  • Assist in the development of project budgets and financial forecasts
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks throughout the project lifecycle
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of cost estimation and control processes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in cost engineering or a similar role
  • Proven experience in engineering contract document review and processing change orders
  • Proficiency in cost estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills with attention to detail
  • In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards
  • Familiarity with project management principles and practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience with value engineering and cost optimization techniques
  • Familiarity with local construction regulations and standards in Saudi Arabia (preferred)
  • Professional certification such as Certified Cost Professional (CCP) or similar (preferred)
