Based in the heart of Leamington Spa, Pixel Toys have spent almost a decade pushing the capabilities of mobile gaming. We have developed multiple award-winning titles, including: Warhammer 40,000: Freeblade, Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realm War; and we’re now excited to be exclusively working on a new game, unlike ANYTHING we’ve done previously!
As a forward thinking and innovative studio we are always looking for new technologies and techniques to develop and use in our games and make them even more engaging experiences for our customers.
We are excited to continue to grow our team and are always on the lookout for highly talented and motivated individuals, who are passionate about gaming and excited to join us on our ambitious journey!
The Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Experienced Build Engineer to help shape the future of our mobile game development.
In this pivotal role, you will take ownership of the design, implementation, and ongoing refinement of our build and deployment pipelines. Your work will be fundamental in ensuring that our games are delivered efficiently, reliably, and at the highest possible quality. This is more than just a technical role — it’s an opportunity to become a key player in the modernisation of our infrastructure, and to contribute meaningfully at a critical stage in the lifecycle of our projects.
As an Experienced Build Engineer, you will work closely with our development, QA, and release teams to optimise our workflows and eliminate inefficiencies. You’ll be responsible for creating robust, fault-tolerant CI/CD pipelines that support automated building, testing, and deployment. Your expertise in this area will be vital in helping the team identify and resolve bottlenecks in the development lifecycle, while also introducing smart automation to streamline day-to-day processes.
You will also collaborate with our IT team to ensure that the CI/CD systems are secure, scalable, and reliable; on premises and in cloud environments. Your role will also involve actively monitoring the performance of our build pipelines, troubleshooting issues, and working hand-in-hand with developers to deliver prompt solutions. Maintaining clear documentation, processes, and standards will also be essential, allowing the wider team to understand and benefit from the systems you help to create.
A core part of the role will involve improving QA automation by integrating testing into our build pipelines, ensuring every iteration is as solid as the last. You’ll also manage platform-specific build requirements, particularly for iOS and Android, and help to create and maintain dashboards that provide clear, real-time visibility into build progress and system stability.
About you:
You will join us with Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field, along with at least three years of professional experience in build engineering or a similar role. This experience will have been gained within the games/mobile games industry, giving you a solid understanding of the unique challenges and workflows associated with mobile game development.
You will bring hands-on experience working with Unity and C#, and a clear understanding of how mobile games are developed and deployed. On top of this, you will have direct experience with mobile platform-specific builds, particularly for iOS and Android, and will be confident managing build requirements and configurations for each platform.
Your approach to development will be grounded in a strong understanding of CI/CD principles and best practices. You will be proficient in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell, and will have practical experience automating processes to improve the speed and reliability of development pipelines. You will have worked with a range of build tools and systems; such as Jenkins, TeamCity, or AWS CodeBuild, and will be familiar with mobile platform build systems like Xcode and Gradle.
You will also bring knowledge of automated testing frameworks and an understanding of how these integrate into CI/CD pipelines to support quality assurance processes. Experience using version control systems, particularly Git, will be second nature to you, and you will have a track record of working effectively in collaborative environments where clean code and clear communication are essential.
In addition to your technical expertise, you will bring strong analytical and problem-solving skills, enabling you to diagnose and resolve build-related issues quickly and effectively.
Above all, you will bring a positive, can-do attitude, a collaborative spirit, and a genuine enthusiasm for working as part of a team to build something exceptional.
