Job Description

High Moon Studios is looking for a passionate Gameplay Engineer to work closely with content teams to push our gameplay systems to new heights of fun and visual fidelity. You will be crafting new systems and leveraging existing ones to realize immersive and exciting gameplay. This is a great opportunity to work with a passionate engineering team on the world’s most popular game franchises! You will be collaborating with designers and animators to create new gameplay systems and expand existing ones, supporting the design department by working on a variety of generalist tasks to facilitate their efforts, extending the usage of existing open world systems, implementing, debugging and optimizing major systems in C/C++ and other languages in the context of a large cross platform codebase, and performing bug fixing and polish tasks.
Must have:
  • Excellent C++ programming skills
  • Knowledge of algorithms and data structures
  • Proficiency in 3D math
  • Strong design sensibilities
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Passion for making video games
  • Solid debugging skills
  • Experience extending an established code base
  • 3+ years of experience in game development
Good to have:
  • Open world game development experience
  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas: Player mechanics, particularly in an FPS, Weapon systems, Animation – blend trees, IK, motion matching, Multi-player activity management, Networked game logic, Physics simulation, Vehicle simulation, AI – behavior trees, animation state machines, nav mesh
  • Experience with scripting languages
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or a related field

What you’ll be doing…

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $77,500.00 - $143,376.00 Annual. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role’s range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
