Job Description

The QNX BSP Services Team is seeking a Senior Driver Developer to design and implement next-generation computing platforms in the automotive industry. This role involves creating software drivers for advanced hardware peripherals, with an emphasis on safety-certified software and achieving a certifiable state. The Senior Driver Developer will be part of a services-driven development team. Responsibilities include developing requirements and design documentation, developing drivers for various hardware peripherals, and working in a customer-facing role to ensure software meets quality standards.
Must have:
  • Bootloader and board bring up skills
  • Knowledge and working experience with ISO26262
  • Driver development for UART, I2C, SPI, CAN, input devices, touch controllers
  • Storage device driver development
  • High speed complex communication buses
  • Domain expertise with security hardware and firmware
  • Senior level, hands-on embedded development experience
  • In-depth knowledge of C and Assembly programming languages
  • Hands on development experience using embedded operating systems
  • Experience writing software for major processor architectures
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent

The QNX BSP Services Team is looking for a Senior Driver Developer to design and implement the next generation computing platforms in automotive.  You will be part of a services-driven development team responsible for creating software drivers to support next-gen hardware peripherals on some of the most advanced hardware platforms available.  In addition to driver development, the expectation is that you have worked on safety-certified software and experience dealing with getting such software in certifiable state.

You must be someone with ideas and real passion for software delivered to maximize reuse, efficiency, and simplicity. Your work will affect millions of users and would be essential to the success of QNX.

You will:

  • Develop requirements and design documentation
  • Develop drivers for various hardware peripherals including the adaptation of existing drivers for embedded platforms
  • Develop of safety-critical applications and/or drivers on ISO 26262 certified products
  • Work in a customer-facing role where your work will sometimes be time-critical
  • Focus on ensuring software is held to our quality standards

Technical skills we’re looking for:

  • Bootloader and board bring up skills such as u-boot / DRAM controller initialization / system clock configuration / GPIO & pin-multiplexing
  • Knowledge and working experience with ISO26262
  • Driver development for UART, I2C, SPI, CAN, input devices, touch controllers etc.
  • Storage device driver development targeting block storage devices, SD/eMMC, AHCI/SATA or flash technology (NAND/NOR)
  • High speed complex communication buses like PCIe, USB or SDIO
  • Domain expertise with security hardware and firmware (TPM, TrustZone, etc.)
  • Senior level, hands-on embedded development experience
  • In-depth knowledge of C and Assembly programming languages.
  • Hands on development experience using embedded operating systems (QNX, Linux, GreenHills, VXworks preferred)
  • Experience writing software for major processor architectures (aarch64, x86)
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent
