As a Release Manager, you'll coordinate, plan, and oversee the entire game release cycle. This involves collaborating with cross-functional teams (development, QA, marketing, production) to ensure smooth, timely, high-quality releases across multiple platforms (Steam, PlayStation, Xbox). Responsibilities include developing release plans, overseeing build preparation and deployment, working with QA on issue resolution, coordinating with platform partners, identifying and mitigating risks, acting as the central point of contact for release information, documenting processes, and monitoring post-release performance. The role demands strong organizational and project management skills, experience with build and release management tools, and excellent communication skills.
Must have:
  • 3+ years experience as Release Manager/Build Engineer
  • Proficiency in build/release tools (Jenkins, Perforce, Git)
  • Experience with multiple gaming platforms (Steam, Xbox, PlayStation)
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Excellent communication skills
Good to have:
  • Experience with live service game releases
  • Familiarity with CI/CD practices

As a Release Manager at Red Rover Interactive, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating, planning, and overseeing the entire game release cycle. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, including development, QA, marketing, and production, to ensure smooth, timely, and high-quality releases. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and has a deep understanding of game development processes, build management, and multi-platform publishing.

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive release plans that align with project milestones, coordinating with internal teams to ensure alignment on release goals and timelines.
  • Oversee the preparation, testing, and deployment of builds for various platforms. Work closely with QA teams to address issues and prioritize fixes for a seamless player experience.
  • Coordinate with platform partners (e.g., Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, etc.) to ensure successful game submissions, approvals, and compliance with platform-specific requirements.
  • Identify potential risks in the release cycle and work proactively to resolve them, ensuring timely releases without compromising quality.
  • Act as the central point of contact for all release-related information, keeping stakeholders informed of status, issues, and changes. Document release processes, timelines, and best practices.
  • Monitor and assess post-release performance and player feedback to inform future release strategies, working with support and analytics teams to address any post-launch issues.

We are looking for someone who:

  • 3+ years of experience as a Release Manager, Build Engineer, or similar role in game development, with a strong understanding of the release process for multi-platform titles.
  • Proficiency in build and release management tools (e.g., Jenkins, Perforce, Git) and experience working with multiple gaming platforms (e.g., Steam, Xbox, PlayStation).
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with experience using tools like JIRA, Confluence, or similar platforms.
  • Able to anticipate issues, think critically, and troubleshoot complex problems in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex release details and technical concepts to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex schedules and timelines, ensuring precision in every aspect of the release process.

In addition, we expect you to have:

  • Experience with live service game releases or frequent update cycles.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment) practices and tools.
