Senior Backend Engineer – Remote

We are currently partnering with an industry leader in audio streaming to find a passionate and innovative Senior Backend Engineer to join their Messaging Platform & Tooling team. This position is fully remote, but candidates must be available to work in U.S. Eastern Time.

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in enhancing backend systems and driving innovation to help deliver personalized messaging experiences to hundreds of millions of users. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Data Science, to integrate machine learning models, optimize data pipelines, and create robust backend services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain backend services for user data segmentation and targeted messaging campaigns.
• Collaborate with data science teams to integrate machine learning models for audience targeting and message personalization.
• Optimize data pipelines for efficient processing and storage of user attributes.
• Implement robust APIs for managing audience data across different services.

Qualifications:

• Extensive experience in backend development, with proficiency in Java.
• Strong understanding of schema management and experience using gRPC for service communication.
• Experience with building and maintaining scalable, distributed systems.
• Familiarity with data processing frameworks and tools.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience with audience segmentation and personalization technologies.
• Knowledge of the company’s data ecosystem and messaging platform.
• Experience with asynchronous programming and handling high-volume data streams.

Soft Skills:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
• Ability to mentor junior engineers and contribute to the development of engineering best practices.
