Job Description

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for Cloud Systems administration, providing technical operational services to SimCorp Data Management and Cloud SaaS (Software as Services), internal and external customers. You will utilize DevOps & Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) methods to develop and ensure Cloud Quality of Service. This includes developing and installing automation Scripts and Batch Job Schedules, Cloud Service Orchestration using IaaC (infrastructure as code), setting up and maintaining monitoring, ensuring current infrastructure standards, and participating in incident, problem and change management processes. You will be required to engage directly with clients and work closely with development and operations teams.
Must have:
  • Experience with Azure DevOps and Azure services.
  • Technical skills of Windows and Linux Server Administration.
  • Proficiency in coding Azure pipelines and scripting languages.
Good to have:
  • Familiarity with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Grafana.
  • Basic business understanding of Financial Data Management.

WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT TO US

The software engineer is the core of agile development. They are part of a small, cross functional team and can create working, high quality solutions that deliver value to our customers. Together with other team members the software engineer is empowered to manage and self-organize to ensure alignment with their team and other teams and accomplish the business deliveries. The software engineer proactively seeks feedback from systems - telemetry, logs, tests, etc. - users, peers, and other stakeholders to drive continuous quality and process improvements.

WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

  • Responsible for Cloud Systems administration, providing technical operational services to SimCorp Data Management and Cloud SaaS (Software as Services), internal and external customers

  • Utilize DevOps & Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) methods, to develop and ensure Cloud Quality of Service

  • Development and installation of automation Scripts and Batch Job Schedules

  • Cloud Service Orchestration using IaaC (infrastructure as code) for environment creation, Release and Deployment of executables 

  • Setup Monitoring and responsible for Maintenance of Cloud Environments and System Components

  • Ensure current infrastructure standards, apply OS, Database, Security and infrastructure patches

  • Provide Daily/Weekly/Monthly/Annual metrics within SOC2 compliance needs

  • Conduct Proof of Concepts to engineer innovative approaches working with Cloud Services Architect

  • Incident & Problem Management, Change Management Process. Implement Cloud Service policies – focus on SimCorp Data Management Services

  • Participate in operational meetings with clients for technical issues and escalate critical information/issues to management

  • Maintain continuous state of security and availability.  Participate in Annual VAPT (Vulnerability Assessment & PenetrSecurity, sting) and Business Continuity / Disaster Recovery exercise

  • Engage directly with Clients

  • Azure Pipelines: Develop and maintain Azure DevOps pipelines to automate deployment and integration processes.

  • Monitoring: Implement and manage monitoring solutions for Azure services and servers to ensure optimal performance and availability.

  • Alerts Management: Set up and manage alerts for Azure services and servers to proactively identify and resolve issues.

  • Scripting: Utilize scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) to automate routine tasks and improve operational efficiency.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with development and operations teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment of applications.

  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of processes, configurations, and procedures.

WHAT WE VALUE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or Engineering

  • 5+ years of Experience with operating cloud applications, preferable in the financial sector

  • Experience: Proven experience with Azure DevOps and Azure services.

  • Azure: Azure DevOps, Active Directory, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Sentinel, and Key Vault, Citrix, Oracle Container & PDB, Functions, Monitoring and Security, Insights, Billing

  • Technical skills of Windows and Linux Server Administration, Oracle Administration, PL/SQL, XML, Virtualization (VMWare, Citrix). Security Center, Backup & Proficiency in coding Azure pipelines and scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python.

  • Scripting: PowerShell, Python, AWS Lambda, Azure

  • Infrastructure creation and application deployment: Ansible/Terraform

  • Proficient in developing CI/CD pipelines and associated tooling

  • Knowledge of cloud IT Systems Administration and IT Security Operations

  • Monitoring Tools: Familiarity with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Grafana and other monitoring tool

  • Basic business understanding of Financial Data Management (reference data, portfolio pricing, corporate actions)

  • ITIL, ITOps working in Agile methodology preferred

  • Communication: Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve issues.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills including listening skills

  • Proactive nature and a natural drive for problem solving

  • Enthusiastic, committed and result-oriented

The expectations to a software engineer’s behavioural skills are centred around an agile mindset of working in teams. Business knowledge requirements vary across PD but are overall within the financial sector. In SimCorp we use several coding languages and technical domains, so the concrete skills here also vary across the organization.
